How to lock down Linux Mint?

Hi

I'm building a PC for my grandparents and want to install Linux Mint 17 on it. How should I lock it down so they don't install any crap on their PC? I know that there isn't a lot of Linux malware, but still, I'd like to have that PC protected. Thanks.

Already thought of that, should've mentioned in the OP. Anything else I can do?

By the way, does it support Secure Boot? Would be awesome if it did.

What else do you want it to prevent? Without root, it'll limit basically all installation and administrator tasks. I guess you could reduce their accounts privileges to the bare minimum too.

Seems like it does support Secure Boot.

Not sure about Secure Boot. Do you need to lock it down that much? Are your grand folks going to hack their way though you security measures? :P

Just don't want the bootloader to be overwritten.
