HDD testing

amrod81

Hey guys, can anyone tell me good software for testing your HDD? I just want to make sure my drive has no errors and if it is performing as it should (it is a Seagate Barracuda 1 TB, 7200 rpm, 32 MB cache).

Thanks! :)

Try also HD Tune Pro. You can download it for a 15 days trial. It is really complete, you can test anything on your HDD.

most manufacturers have their own test software, though these are only to check the drives for errors, not for speed.

WD has "Data Lifeguard"

LINK DOS (It says black drive but its made for all WD drives)

LINK WIN (It says black drive but its made for all WD drives)

Seagate has "SeaTools"

LINK DOS

LINK WIN

For performance testing these are most common:

crystalmark,

HDD tune,

IO meter

And for SSD's there is also AS-SSD.

Crystalmark, that's what I couldn't remember for the life of me. Thanks Looney.
