Is Zotac a good brand?

I thinking about buying a pair of GTX 970, but i can only get the model Zotac AMP! Extreme.

Since i never got a product from them, and never saw any graphics card recomendation of buying a zotac product, i'm trying to get info.

Have you own a Zotac Graphics card? is/was it good? Any trouble with it?

Zotac are a large gpu partner for Nvidia, yes they are a good brand.

 

I have owned a GTX 285, a GTX 580 and 2 GTX 670 cards from Zotac with no issues, a friend of mine has Zotac GTX 460 since launch and still playing games on it, and another friend has 2 GTX 275 in SLI from Zotac running since launch.

I have a Zotac 470 that still works.

 

They are fine, some of their coolers are a bit hot. Apparently they have improved their support in the last while, which I'm okay with.

I noticed the same card and i thought it's faster than the G1 Gigabyte, but for $409, i don't think it's worth it... The clock numbers are veeery close, so i think the Gigabyte wins.

 

Otherwise i owned a zotac GTS 250. It was a decent card...

I've seen It in Action from a friend it's pretty good. Just don't buy their gtx 760 ones their pcb is too small

Do i need to have 16gb of ram for the sli? or im good with 8gb?

8GB is fine. SLI is not effected by RAM.

Zotac is more popular in the Asia and European regions that's why it's not that much wanted in the Western regions. It's also cheaper on those regions that's why it's popular.

 

I guess it's on par with ASUS, EVGA and MSI in terms of performance. It's just that the colors of the coolers are not really "sleek" if I must say.

Zotac makes great stuff. I especially like their mini PCs.

I work in IT and Zotac are the most unreliable graphics cards I ever tested. I dealt with EVGA, Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, PNY, XFX and Zotac.

Gigabyte and MSI are tied for 3rd place.

lol we dont get them much in australia mainly we get zotac brands 1-2 years in

What specifically is your job in IT, IT is a diverse field. Can you give examples of what happened so we can have an idea what buyers are getting into?

I repair custom computer and build ones, it's about unstability without any reasons, it's about getting the video cards display on the screen when it want, getting weird frame drop without reasons even on light gaming.

Like if your card get high temp usually the airflow in the case isn't optimised or the video cards fans aren't set in a optimal way like I do with all build I do, etc. are stuff that happens for normal reasons that can be fix without having to RMA the card.

I know Zotacs are the GTX 900s brand that are still in stock, I say wait for better brands as I stated later.
