PC Problems you live with

Guest

One of my new Antec fans shows up as 0RPM... But it triggers no low spin warnings and it ramps up as the temp goes up. It's kinda working... And it looks pretty.

Intermittent GPU problem, it's supposedly a fault in my PSU. Something about fluctuating power, but everything else in my system is fine, and I can't be bothered to take out my modular PSU and replace it with my older EVGA 500w non modular PSU. I seem to have solved it by simply moving the GPU power cable to a different plug on the PSU, haven't had any problems since then *fingers crossed*.

Audio noise (introduced by my old component system), an anemic laptop, heat...

Sometimes when my computer falls asleep, it won't wake up when I click the mouse.  The only thing I can do at this point is restart the computer.

  • Forgetting to reattach the front usb header to the motherboard after a clean out and not bothering to spend a few moments fixing it, it just stares at me through the case window.

Sorting out playlists for my windows phone via my pc.

Having issues with macro keys (sidewinder x4) and not fixing it correctly, so I have an UAC request each time I start up the computer.

I can't pin applications to my windows 7 taskbar and I can't create new folders. I just copy old ones, delete their innerds and move on. Once every boot my computer screen flickers and either crashes or moves on.

Just format your shit man. Takes like 20 minutes to rebuild an OS.

Lan cable doesn't click into the port so it easily falls out when I move my PC.

Had no zip-ties so I Gorilla Taped my cables in the back.

For a while I had no I/O Shield on my motherboard.

Triple monitor stand is slightly off which bugs me.

Loud fans. The room that I currently have my PC in doesn't exactly cancel noise well, so it tends to get loud rather quickly.

Something, something, something, famous quote, computer specs, and stuff...

I tried to run Star Citizen once.

Now I only have one GPU.  :v

I tried running it on Windows (as my computer is dualboot with Windows and Ubuntu so I can play a few Windows exclusives) and it BSoD'ed and would never start again.  Then I tried going to the Linux side and this is what I saw.

At least I could get into a command line Linux side (usually :v).

(Linux is the main OS I use; I've not touched Windows for many months now and can still play all the games I wanna play (without Wine, as many of the games I like run natively on Linux now); but I keep Windows around for a few exclusives (but only for single player games; I won't play multiplayer games as those are games I may potentially continue wanting to play :P)).

no internal USB3 ports, so I have to run the front connectors to the I/O on the mobo instead

I can't get my Water Cooling loop to completely bleed. Air is trapped in some unknown location which won't come out no matter how hard I try. I decided to live with a little extra noise in order to keep my sanity.

Very little. I used to deal with a lot, I don't have the tolerance any more. For instance, the DVI cable to one of my monitors is about an inch too short, which means I can't rotate it to portrait without moving it closer to my center monitor. So I got a new DVI cable that was long.

I had a small case rattle so I dismantled the lock on my case that was rattling and built a new one so I wouldn't lose functionality but would lose the noise.

I couldn't bear the thought of having a passthrough cable for my card reader (or the thought of running it a USB 2.0 speeds) so I bought a USB card with an extra USB 3 header on it, and used a riser cable from under a graphics card to store the USB card in a 5.25" bay so I wouldn't compromise performance or aesthetics.

And that's why my computer costs close to $20k without being anything special.

Screen tearing/horizontal artefacts. I'm running a large number of mixed monitors with a mix of output technology in Eyefinity. I put up with it because lots of monitors are awesome (for me).

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.

My laptop boots up in my bag sometimes. It also won't wake up when I open it, needing me to press power.

My desktop also lacks very good gan control so they all basically run full speed.
