Windows 10 Insider Topic

Personally, I am not facing a degradation of performance that I am noticing, but then again, I can't play games on my system... so, it's hard to see small performance drops.

OK, I reinstalled the build 21370 and didn't update to latest nVidia drivers and now GPU performance is good.

Seems it's a driver issue instead of w10insider.

But folders open slowly on desktop and GIMP takes 3-4 times longer to open. Still buggy...

I edit my posts more often than not

Microsoft releases a new build. Build 21382

This one is a bit interesting:

  • Device Manager has 2 new View Mode: "Device by Driver" and "Driver by Device"
These 2 view mode are accessible form the View menu in Device Manager. They allow to see which driver are linked/used to which hardware and can be uninstalled, forced uninstalled or removed from the system.

  • Folder's icon got slightly updated. It now shows if the folder is empty or not, by having independent icons:

  • HDR support to color managed apps has been added.
To make use of it, you need to have HDR enabled, and right-click on the program executable (or its shortcut), and go under Properties, and then go under Capability tab.
From there, you can find the option bellow:

Update:

The suggested news topics are... interesting? I found the lower two pretty funny. I never use MSN news so I guess my 'interests' aren't tailored to me yet?

Yea, "out of the box", you have a lot of crap... I spent the time setting up my interests, hiding sources and picking "Fewer Stories".

Then it started to be more interesting

New Build 21390.

You may have the following feature in your current build:

  • You can now set Windows Terminal as your main Command Prompt terminal.

You need to install Windows Terminal Preview from the Store to have the option show up. https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9N8G5RFZ9XK3

  • This new build has a new .MSI fluent design icon. The last time this icon was updated was back with Windows 2000, if I am not mistaken.
  • This new build also has a new Task Manager icon.
