Corsair RM750 click noise on startup

Hello good folk of the LTT community!

 

So my stuff is working just fine however I noticed that my PSU makes a single click upon booting. Is this just the sound the capacitors are making or should I return the PSU?

I would say it's normal if it's one single click upon startup.

It is the magic happening upon start.

 

Magic as in electricity. I have a RM 850 and I didn't even think about the click, to be honest. It sounds very natural and like I said: the clicking is most likely from some capacitor.

never noticed a click with my 850, but if it boots up your fine

For how long you guys have owned the RM850? Would you recommend it? It's for my build.

8 months or so now, id recommended it for the silence but you are going to get allot of hate from people because of the caps corsair use in it

No worries, I have the same with mine, though for me it only happens after I disable the PSU (via switch on the back).

I wouldn't recommend it. Not because of the caps but rather because due to the silent operation it gets very hot.

Oh well... I have 2 options left then, the XFX Pro 850 or the Seasonic 760 Platinum, I have till next week to decide. Time to do some research.

And the AX860, because they're the only ones that ships to a PO Box here, it's... kinda hard to get things on this island lol
