Before saying overkill! Music & audio are what I've been doing professionally for a couple decades.post-50756-14119983176429_thumb.jpgpost-50756-1411998327248_thumb.jpgpost-50756-14119983405651_thumb.jpg

Should we go full zombie mode? :D

Here's my Sound Blaster AE-9 that I fitted with some extra MUSES OP-Amps. It's sending audio to my custom modded Altec Lansing MX5021 speakers. They are old, but still output really good sound. And they are one of rare speakers that had wall mounting satellites...

Still running my Creative ZxR sound card. I don't see why I should upgrade it.

There is no replacement for RGB except more RGB ?

I love this card. Even if it is not entirely necessary I still love it.

EDIT: It's a Xonar Essence STX

I agree, it was an excellent card. I say "was" because Asus has come out with a newer version.

I'm now using a Dragonfly Red USB DAC. While the Xonar Essence STX has a nice GUI adjustable driver, it's not compatible with Linux. The Dragonfly makes up for the lack of control by just sounding just as good without it and being crossplatform. It also doen't eat up any space inside the computer or on one's desk since it's a dongle. It can be used with a short and/or shielded USB cable if having a heavy audio cable dangling from a dongle plugged into the computer is not practical (I use one with my notebook so the dongle and audio cable doesn't get in the way of my mouse).

AudioQuest has a new USB DAC now called the Dragonfly Cobalt. Supposedly, it is even better than the Reds, which are better than their Blacks. I'm not in any hurry to replace my RED.

First post ever NECRO. Let's see what's new.

Since you're the OP, I'll give you a pass. ?

As long as anyone is oppressed, no one will be safe and free.

One has to be proactive, not reactive, to ensure the safety of one's data so backup your data! And RAID is NOT a backup!
