Does anyone know of any alternatives to this? Full size, mechanical and dedicated media keys

If you want Cherry switches there is no alternative and won't be for at least another year due to the exclusivity contract between Corsair and Cherry.

 

However if that isnt a deal breaker, Razer will be releasing their Chroma blackwidow soon with the Chinese knockoff switches though I dont think it has dedicated media keys either.

I would have preferred browns, but my requirements were RGB, TKL, and Cherry so I didnt have any other choice.  The TKL must be smaller volume for them or more strictly viewed as gaming for them to limit it to red switches

Oh I forgot to mention it doesn't need RGB lighting

 

I really hate that most mechanical keyboards don't have dedicated media keys when my $5 keyboard has gazillions

Just get the regular K70 then?

I preordered this keyboard and so far i have loved it, Mine has the old corsair logo on it which i like a lot better than the new gaming one.

Yes, I have loved my k70 and wanted some rgb. So I got the k95 FINALLY in mx blues and figured while I was at it I would replace my sensei raw with an m65

Yeah you really get yourself some candy there, good choice at that.

Pretty much looks like it. I have actually the same equirements like you for my new keyboard and I really which to have browns on this K65, also the old logo would be appropriate to say it in a nice way..

So, is this keyboard now to be Linus' daily driver?  Also as a curiosity to anyone who knows - does the K70 RGB's keyboard legs / feet that you flip up - are they finally rubberized or still that slippy non grippy plastic for when you want that ergonomic-ish keyboard height?

Alrighty.  Wasn't sure if Linus was talking about the pads, but excellent and thank you kindly.  Finally decided to not be a lurker and actually take part.  So, glad to be here.  Just trying to decide between K70 RGB or trying a Topre.  Hardest decisions.  Ever.

Wow, this company makes some solid keyboards. Never heard about them before, which makes me sad, but I already love them. ty for bringing that up and yeah it is not an easy choice at all. but seriously, corsair screwed up their logo big time. I really don't want that to be on my keyboard, further more I already have the K70 and I hate how the dust collects on the aluminium and you simply can not keep it tidy unless you pull all keys out once in a month and clean the whole aluminium surface with a not to moist and not to dry cloth...

Yeah.  I am debating between getting another k70.  I have one now, a CM Storm quickfire TKL MX Green and a WASD V2 mx Green, or trying a topre or just going for a TKL from Max keyboard who are just.. insane.  Like.. they're amazing in reviews and have second to none customer service from what all the reviews say, but yeah.  A lot of choices to go through.  Not sure if all the colors are worth it when they're still using Cherry corp stabilizers and all.  And the TKL isn't multiple switch types ;/  Thinking I may switch to TKL's because the num-pad is somewhat lost on me xD  Also from Florida so dust on aluminum and wood is.. x.x.. yeah.. I can understand your hesitation especially with the logo, but the logo is more of a tertiary complaint.

This keyboard was so beautiful when it was first shown, and still is, but with every other company coming out with RGB stuff now I think I will just wait and hope Ducky makes a Shine RGB in the near future. If that happens, it will be worth the wait.

 

Also thank you Linus for pointing out the stupidity of the new logo, it is awful.

Loved the Antec call-out/reference at the end, it really reminds us of what Corsair can do when they do things right.  That said, I'm not gonna rush out and buy this new keyboard. My main KB is currently a Yellow Edition Ducky Shine 3 with MX browns and this doesn't offer enough over my Ducky to justify the purchase (the new logo doesn't help either). I'm more excited for the Logitech g910 and it's new switches. Corsair does make great stuff, I've also got a K65 w/ Reds, but it's gonna take something besides slightly prettier lighting to make me drop another hundred plus dollars on keyboard.

The only reason why I won't get this is because it would be a waste considering I'd only put it on the red colour and leave it there :P

I was going to get it as a gift for a lighting technician I work with, now I'll need to sand off the logo and make something to put there. Modding it great but it shouldn't be a requirement.

I run my browser through NSA ports to make their illegal jobs easier. :P
If it's not broken, take it apart and fix it.

I'm very confused.  I am in need of a keyboard, as the one i have does not work properly anymore. I wanted to get this one, but after seeing the review I'm not so sure...  Is it just a matter of the software, which will improve later, thats holding this back, and how long is it expected until updates?

So for anyone with this keyboard. have you noticed Corsair's Utility Engine stop responding? It has happened to me about 10 times now and I have been using the keyboard for about 3 hours now. 

 

 

Edit: This software is extremely buggy and makes me feel like I am a beta tester and not a paying customer. So far I have had to uninstall and reinstall the software three times and for some reason, my boot times increased BIG time for a while. All I know, is that after reading the Corsair Forums, I am not alone.

I haven't had too much issue with the software so far (knock on wood), other than needing to restart my computer after installing to get it working properly and it being complicated to set up. Also, like Linus mentioned in the video, it's already kinda complicated but I still don't feel like I can utilize the full potential of the board.

 

That said, I am enjoying the hell out it. This is my first foray into the world of mechanical keyboards so I figured I would just splurge on the RGB.  :D

 

I tried doing the wave and gradient rainbow effect initially but I found it distracting. Instead, I configured it so that each key changes color when I press it. So I get the tactile bump from the Cherry MX Brown switches and visual feedback from the color change. I am really liking this set up so far. It was kind of a pain in the butt to set up though, as I had to individually set up each key light.

 

I haven't gotten into changing the keyactions yet though.

 

My main fear is the durability of the LEDs, I guess I'll find out if the LED redesign really does help in a few months time.
