System Build Upgrades - Do You Pay For Your Own Upgrades or Do Mum & Dad?

Geekazoid

I'm not even allowed to dream about my parents giving me money to upgrade. All hard work over the summer/odd jobs has given me the money to earn this pc.

You don't seem so bad yourself.

:)

Although I am still trying to figure out how you guys stay on earth... Given the whole hanging upside down and toilets flushing backwards...

Well, I believe there is such a thing called "gravity", yeah, it seems to help a lot with that. Quite amazing really :D. As for the toilets flushing "backwards", I'll let you figure that one out ;):P.

I do wonder, though, why you guys can't afford the "u" in a lot of words that should have it.

For example:

• Colour

• harbour

Oh...you know the rest. :D

i erhm sold some stock that i was getting when i turned 18 anyway it was like 17 shares of 176 (been reinvesting since i was a baby) and that is how i got my rig since at the time i didn't have a job but now i do and looking at some extra stuff you know the extras gamers get for minimal increases in performance like an SSD or aesthetic stuff like cable extensions custom made for looks

Paid everything myself besides my cheap $30 sound card because I had no money at the time and my onboard died. Didnt feel like being without a PC for a few weeks for a RMA (don't have cable either so I would have been miserable) so I got something overnight and that's all my mom got me.

Part time job and allowance. I get 50 a week, and 8 an hour for my job. Its pretty sufficient until a graduated high school. In tertiary education you don't get such generous holiday breaks :(

I don't think anyone really gets their parents to buy them computer parts. I wish I could walk up to my mom and ask her to buy me a 200$ keyboard without her freaking.

Honestly, it depends. Usually I pay for my rig and upgrades, but once and awhile my parents will offer to purchase something.
