Cyrus

Just wondering how it compares because i have a titan and they never use the titan when they benchmark.

And those new features seem dayumn good on the new cards.

But does anyone know how they compare?

980 will demolish the Titan in gaming, seeing as the 980 beats out the 780ti.

980 is better at compute and single precision then the titan. but double precision I think the titan would still win

but i'd pick up a 980

Pretty sure the 980 is like 20-25% better than the Titan

If gaming, 980

Impressive, never expected the titan to be better but damn...

I just want to see how they compare, ive had my titan for more than a year now :)

check out the review from techpowerup, they have the Titan tested against the 980 and other cards

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/EVGA/GTX_970_SC_ACX_Cooler/6.html

Never thought about upgrading... but i don't see why people would update for 5-6 frames... if gaming is all they do (if they have a titan/780/780-ti)

There you go ;)

They should all be OC'd :)

If everything was that optimized ._. mmmm frames

I would keep your Titan.... Its not like, GTX 980 with 50% MORE GEN or anything. Its a menial difference and your titan has features that the 980 doesn't. You could also argue that the 980 has features that your Titan doesn't. The 980 has resolution scaling the Titan does not. Titan has double float precision or what ever though and the Titan has a faster memory bus. So if your running large resolutions the Titan is going to beat out the 980 by a fairly good amount. i would keep the titan. its not as good fps wise, but it will hold value so much better and the e peen is huge. just get a skynet bios and some water on it and show those 980 who boss.

also for all the people saying the 780ti and 980 are faster than the titan. there is a titan sitting in the top place of the valley thread that has been there since day 1 :P

the titan came out ages after the 780ti. stop trolling.

What's that have to do with Titan not presenting any value for money and the 780ti being overpriced ?

you could say that people who spent loads on a gtx580 are face palming because they can get a card for £100 that is faster. they came out before the 900 series. and the 780ti, so they got there monies worth out of them.

Stop being stupid, i bought the titan before the 780 was released...
exactly what i was getting at.

As a work station card Titan has great price/performance. As a gamer card titan flopped out. As a non professional it's still a big fail even if you do some work stuff on it and game with it.

Reported me for what. If anything you are the one in the wrong here and they other defiantly is in the wrong with name calling.

not reading the op. he was asking if he should upgrade for a gtx titan to a gtx980. not to call him an idiot for buying a card a year before the 980 even came out, then assume he was only using it for gaming.

I am not mad. Clearly you are if you have to reduce yourself to name calling.

you seem to be coming across as aggressive for no apparent reason.

What all are you doing with the system? Im sure a Titan will still out perform a 980 during surround. Still would be a down grade to get the 900 series as of now, for me at least.
