Cuss? I think you mean because.

You don't have to have sata 3 to connect it, it will still work on sata 1.

Upgrading your mobo would be a good idea.

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

You won't even use all the speed of a sata 2 port on modern SSDs,

Sata 2 = 3GB/s, Modern SSDs = around 550MB/s

Wrong. SATA 2 is 1,5 GB/s which is 250 MB/s.

Wrong. SATA 2 is 1,5 GB/s which is 250 MB/s.

SATA 1 = 1.5Gb/s.= 187.5MB/s

SATA 2 = 3Gb/s = 375MB/s

SATA 3 = 6Gb/s = 750MB/s.

8 bits = 1 byte,

But anyways, yeah I realized that, a modern ssd would definitely max out a sata 2 port, though will still be faster than a traditional HDD.
