Google makes good phones, I myself love the Nexus series, I recommend you go for Nexus 6.

Depends on the size. If they go for a 5.9" phablet as rumored, and don't manage to keep it's size in check, then it'll be the Z3 Compact.

I don't want or need a massive phone.

My biggest recommendation is a HTC One M8, if they do not have it, go for the Nexus 5.

I personally love Samsung, I think the Samsung Galaxy S5 is also really nice. If you like Samsung and need a new phone, go for the Samsung Galaxy S5.

I know that, most companies make 100-150$, but Apple adds 400+.
