Nice work, I looked at a few designs like that when I was planning mine, sometimes I regret not going down that path, but the reality is I didn't have the resources to be able to pull it off like you have.

QuicK and DirtY. Read the CoC it's like a guide on how not to be moron.  Also I don't have an issue with the VS series.

Sometimes I miss contractions like n't on the end of words like wouldn't, couldn't and shouldn't.    Please don't be a dick,  make allowances when reading my posts.

Are those dusty console games in the bottom right of the projector screen.

Not sure where you're referring to, but there aren't any console games in that room, they are probably old DVDs :P

Very nice room, you have some sweet gear. My only criticism is why did you not match your speakers, especially the center channel with the fronts? Do you notice any tonal differences or are they pretty close?

Thanks!

Yeah I know :) , but the XTZ center speaker seems a bit "small" to me. I want that edge of more massive sound when watching movies. And the Definitive Technology really delivers.  And the Orbs really surprised me as well. I bought them to test if they could hold up, exceeded my expectations.

Preposterous! He's not posting to promote his channel, just to participate in the Home Theatre setup thread. If it were a video off topic, or like a random "Hey guys it's Jerry here! Check out my channel! Unboxings, tech, and competition! WooHoo!" then different story.

They are acrylic. Pictures don't do them justice, they look much better in person.

Here is my humble apartment setup.  No receiver so I have the Logitech z5500s going through the TV's optical out connection.  Using my HTC One as my remote for everything, and HTPC is an ancient core2duo with 2gig of ram running XBMC.  Next upgrades will be replacing the cable gateway with a separate modem and Asus wireless AC router, then eventually build an amazing htpc that can run games directly (thinking a win7 build with steam big picture and xbmc installed, depending on the media features of steamos I may go that way)

Home theater can be an expensive hobby :P

I'm the last person to judge people buying serious stuff, no matter how expensive... but isn't 10k a pair speaker more for someting like listening to lossless music, rather than blasting out explosions in iron man 3? =)

/hear the humourus tone in my writing/

How are you liking the speakers btw?

Here's mine. These pics were taken about a year ago. it's 7.1 with 'DSX wide' implementation, meaning no 'rear' speakers, I use front wide instead. The angle of the pics don't show it too well but the speakers are spaced properly and it does deliver a fully immerse surround experience. I'm wired for full 11 channel surround, but still saving up for my new receiver, hopefully this Christmas.

EDIT: I got the 11 channel receiver I was waiting for (Denon AVR-4311CI) and a final pair of matching speakers to complete my set. Needless to say I am fully enjoying it.

front_zps38d5d2ae.jpg

I'm well aware I'm seated higher than ideal listening position, this is because I wanted better line of sight to the TV. I am working on risers for speakers to add more height and give them a little tilt.

wide_zpsbb12afc9.jpg

Just to the right a little ways is my other side surround speaker mounted to the wall that unfortunately didn't make it into the picture as I was trying to show the actual room layout due to awkward shaped room.

rear_zps219bdc12.jpg

This is my old HTPC case (on top), I replaced it with a Silverstone GD08 so it's all black and matching but I haven't taken any recent pics.

gear_zpsd88be70e.jpg

I did the custom wiring myself with the help of my dad and brother.

wallplate_zps41a6c04e.jpg

DSX height speakers are not active at the moment, still waiting for new receiver so I can run full 11 channel. For now they are display ornaments.

That's one badass setup man! =)

Would you giva a clue as to how much money you spent on the audio setup itself?

And thx for giving my gf a "worst case scenario" =P We sometimes disagree on the importance of pc, home theater and other space consuming hobbies.

Got her to come look at your setup saying, "now you see it could be a lot worse right" =)

And sweeet that you had those signs made, they look awesome!

Nice job with the plaques :) I love it makes me feel like its a oem's show room. Did you do the install?

Thanks, I appreciate it. Yes I did the work myself with the help of my dad and brother.

Thanks, glad you like it. The audio part (receiver, amp, preamp, speakers and sub) is easily over 10k, not sure of the exact amount.

I should also note I have another pair of 2 channel speakers not shown in this setup which are worth an additional $1500-ish. I just don't know where to place them at the moment. :P
