LTT 3DMark Thread

Recommended Posts

I really like that you guys submitted these results.

First I really appreciate an active community, it shows that there are many interested people out there. It´s not always about e-peen but that fact to see and analyze 'How good is my hardware and did I spent my money wisely?'.

Most of the people live of their machine for quite a while and upgrade not as frequently as i.e. I do. For me the GTX980 is, just as all the last gens of GPU, just another station. I´ll be buying nVidia´s and AMD´s next highend GPUs, look for which one fits my highend desire best and then get either SLI or CF.

It´s not that I need that, but I like overclocking and water cooling and get the very best in terms of performance for the applications and games I work and play with.

I tried my GTX980 SLI i.e. with a 4K monitor and I´ve got to say between being okay and having a great feeling is a difference. That´s why I decided, and also in regard of upoming games like Star Citizen, FarCry4 or Dragonage, to go again with my Asus 1440p monitor, though the 4K remains still in the back of my head.

Second I think Jumper´s and my work reflects in a lot of ways in terms what people need to know about performance of GPUs and the whole system. Whilst Unigine Valley lives of other values 3D Mark (both of course mainly of the GPU) is for me a perfect example to see what happens with different GPUs and of course CPUs. I found personally that my DDR4 frequencies are not so crucial in terms of benchmarking. But I´ve seen people using different CPUs and mainboard configs and that pushed them really hard in 3D Mark.

So keep up the submitting and we can fill this database just as good as Jumper118 could fill the valley benchmark sheet :)

Unfortunately I can't run the benchmark again because the beta drivers are not approved yet(don't know why they always forgot to approve latest AMD drivers but meh).

Unfortunately 3D Mark doesn't like AMD CPUs at all :) I don't think going from 4.8 to 5.0 will make any noticeable difference on the score :/

Yeah with the 200MHz you're not getting much more I think. But a 4670K @ 4.8GHz is already really a good score :) ! But see you have a single R9 280X and have almost the score of 2chriswy.

I know a lot of people don't want to hear this, but this outdated architecture that the FX CPU uses is the reason why you guys don't see more performance, though it's just a synthetic benchmark after all.

But AMD CPUs create bottlenecks in certain scenarios for highend GPUs these days. I build PCs for people and as of right now I rather use something like an Intel i5 4430 as very basic CPU rather than a FX processor.

Though I hope AMD will make a good comeback in 2016 with a new architecture to give Intel at least in the consumer grade CPU some competition.

That´s quite an impressive score for a single GPU! I assume the card is still air cooled and not equipped with a mod BIOS, right?

all of my wats, how does a 670 outperform a 770 which is at higher clocks
