Corsair SP120 vs. AF120 (quiet edition) for DB(a)/ CFM

MalcolmSex

I was looking into maybe replacing my Cougar vortex fans for some Corsair air series fans. Silence is the most important factor for me as I run my vortex fans at 5v 24/7.

However, when reading a review of the Corsair air series fans, I noticed that the SP120s have a better sound to airflow ratio across the nearly the entire board. If I am reading this right, then for most speeds, an SP120 (quiet edition) fan will produce more airflow and more static pressure than it's AF120 equivalent for a given noise level. Am I reading this wrong or can it be true that the SP120s are simply better for nearly any scenario regardless of air restriction?

As for my particular scenario, I am looking into case fans with only light restriction. It appears as if I want pure silence, the AF120 is still the best bet, but there is only a 0.4 DB(a) delta at 5v with the SP120 pushing more air. I really don't know which one to get

from what you posted it seems the sp120s would be the way to go

(1) high frame rate (2) ultra graphics settings (3) cheap...>> choose only two<<...

if it's never been done then i'm probably tryna do it. (((((((Bass so low it HERTZ)))))))

Yeah, I think the general consensus around here is to just use SP120s for everything.

Unless of course you need a 140mm fan.

does anyone know if the SP 120s are quieter than the cougar vortex 120mm HDB fans at 5v?
