Noise cancellation tech quadruples optical bandwidth

Thought this was pretty interesting. 

From what i gather basically sends the same signal twice and analyises the end result to cancel out the noise that is picked up along the way resulting in a 4x bandwidth improvement over a longer distance

 

If we can have faster backbones for our networks it would only help to increase the number of people with high speed broadband and prevent slowdown in a high load situation.

What are your guys thoughts on it?
