FPS, Needs to be at least 60fps solid to be decent (or 30fps with no drops for titles that are locked ..IE bad games)

 

Resolution is all well and good but if you cannot play it then whats the point at all

 

Basically start on low, and increase settings as high as you can go while maintaining 60fps

Both need to be decent enough, 1080p 50-60fps minimum. Anything above is good for me.

If I had to choose, FPS. But I would try and get the best balance of both. 60FPS minimum too.

Its also resolution...playing an FPS at 800x600 is an awful experience.

As others have said, 1080p with at least 40-50 fps (with no drops) for FPS, 30 fps is okay for MOBA like games.

I'd give up Resolution for smooth 60fps. But the lowest I'd go for Res is 720p.

Its hard to say, i will make compromises as i play 5760x1080 and will play at an absolute minimum of 30fps. Obviously higher fps means less eyestrain and smoother gameplay. but playing at that resolution is amazing.

Why at least 60 fps?Human eye is imperfect and cannot see the difference between 30,40 and 60 fps.That or i am wrong...

Also this has been scientifically tested

120fps gaming is night and day to 60fps gaming, but above is probably less and less noticable

Yeah I would say at like 160+ fps it becomes less and less noticable

Nope, same thing, you would still be able to tell, why do you think some movies are being shot in 48FPS like the hobbit etc

 

I watched Video Game High School in 48fps, its completely noticable

 

The human eye is capable of a lot more than people think, there are MANY reasons 24fps is the chosen frame rate for movies, but in movies FPS is less important than game

 

Go watch an action heavy movie, in the fightscenes you can hardly tell what's happening, there is SO much motion blur, but this is often wanted by film makers as it creates a cinematic feel, if you move your hand infront of your face it is blurry not clear, so shooting at 24fps puts in blur like the human eye percieves

 

Also because below 24fps it is stuttery

I always play games at the monitor's native res.

I would rather play at 720p 60fps than at 1080p 30fps. Feels better (actually tried that just out of interest by limiting bf4 to 30fps and 60 fps with the respective resolutions)

 

BUT I would always want to play at a monitors native res. 720p on a 1080p monitor feels weird and looks really bad, while on my laptop which has like 768p (I mean it is close to 720p) that lower resolution still looks good.
