Oooooh, I'm looking forward to any potential Gigabyte orange boards.

CPU- 4690k @4.5ghz / 1.3v    Mobo- Asus Maximus VI Gene   RAM- 12GB GSkill Assorted 1600mhz   GPU- ASUS GTX 760 DCUII-OC 

Storage- 1TB 7200rpm WD Blue + Kingston SSDNow 240GB   PSU- Silverstone Strider ST75F-P

Has anyone else noticed the PCI-E x1 slot where a USB 3.0 Connector usually is on that board? Why is that there? I'm assuming some sort of ASUS exclusive expansion card?

Firstly. 28 = 3*8+4 so argument invalid. Its valid for 4sli though, but if you have the money for 4 gpus, you can damn well find the 200 more dollars for the big chip.

Also this is called market segmentation. Go read abput it it all makes sense from a business perspective.

 

You can do 3-way SLI in 8/8/8 with 4 left over. Also, don't forget the chipset comes with 8 lanes as well. That leaves room for sound and M.2/SATA-E.

Oops. For whatever reason I thought it was going to be 8x / 8x/ 4x. Since I messed up, I take that back 3 way SLI and 3 way CrossfireX will work.

Looks amazing. But this may be the first time I'll actually recommend the MSI mobo over it.

I think I prefer the look of the EVGA motherboard. A lot more subtle. Also, can't wait to see just how good the performance is for haswell-e over ivy-e in the 6 core models.

That Asus board looks spectacular. And look at that stack of rear USB 3's, and dual onboard usb 3 connectors as well. Nummy

I'm personally excited because I can finally justify spending £1000+ on a PC as i've had my current for 5 years, that and octo-core for consumers ^_^

 

ddr4 is also kinda cool too, i guess
