Hi

I think I found the best monitor for me. The Acer B276HUL

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/acer-monitor-umhb6aa002

It's perfect for me: 27", IPS, 2560x1440, DisplayPort and DVI, response time isn't bad either.

So what do you think of this? Are there any cheaper alternatives? Something I should be aware of?

Standard answer for a good quality, well priced 1440p monitor will always be.......*drumroll*.......the ASUS PB278Q. :D

ON A 7 MONTH BREAK FROM THESE LTT FORUMS. WILL BE BACK ON NOVEMBER 5th.

Well, the ASUS PB278Q is a good fit for casual gaming. (~22.5ms average latency)
The "Acer B276HULymiidprz" might actually be good enough to even play FPShooter on it. (~11ms average latency)

ASUS's PB278Q has undergone a 'Refresh' so to speak and the new one is beeing shipped in Europe already.
There are no tests in yet, but its already more promising then the original. DC-Controlled backlight and a prolly faster (now IPS) panel.

Just compare your display choices over at:

If you ask me, I would either go for the Acer or wait for tests on the ASUS PB278QR.

Wait, so the original PB278Q didn't have an IPS panel?

Nope it didnt.

A slow PLS Panel - prolly from Samsung although I cant confirm that.

For comparison, here the Link to the new one:

Interesting, because PCParPicker shows that it's IPS.

This old news on anandtech pretty much underlines what I'd been saying already.

And its the confirmation for that "Samsung Panel" I was talkin about beforehand =)

There could be a reason behind it all, that ASUS is redoing that PB278Q ;)

Edit:

What are you shopping/brainstorming for anyway. Casual/Pro-Gaming, the occasional movie, some color/editing work?

Casual gaming and flight simulation. My current one is a ViewSonic 22" TN panel with an LED backlight. Response time is 5 ms.

Just brainstorming here, but why don't you consider one of these beautiful 21:9 displays?

ASUS's is prolly the best one for gaming and its color reproduction didnt seem to be that bad either - considering that really low latency

P.S.
Since you do life in Europe (Im assuming Tartu, Estonia is still correct) you dont really have to pay attention to those GIGANTOUS pricetags anyway :D
The ASUS MX299Q is like 400€...

I actually prefer 27" monitors, because Linus said on the last WAN show that he considers 27" to be the sweet spot for a single-monitor setup.

Well if that's the case, I would wait on reviews for the newer PB278QR.

On the other hand, Im expecting the price of that brandnew "ASUS Rog Swift PG278Q" to drop fairly quick. At least Im hopeful ;)
Once that has come down to like 600-699€ Im buying it!

Another Display you might want to take a look at:

BenQ BL2710PT
- 2560x1440
- AHVA Panel
- 5,4ms overall latency
