So guys, what DPI settings do you use?

I use 800 DPI for most games and web browsing, but switch down to 400 DPI for low-resolution FPS gaming or games like BF4 that have multiple sensitivities in-game that you can't adjust (gunner seat in vehicles, for instance). All this is done on two 1080p monitors.

On my 1440p monitor, I find 3000 pretty nice for desktop use. In games, I sometimes bump it up to 3500. I don't need it any higher than that. I can't imagine how anyone uses a dpi 1500 or lower, especially on 1440p. Its such a chore to move the mouse across the screen.

1600 max is all you need.

awe man. I just tried that and I couldn't do it. Maybe I'm so used to high sensitivity, that anything under 2000 is unusable. To me that is. 3000 is the sweet spot to me. But to each his own.

I typically use around 1800  and 1200, switch between them depending if its morning or power hour in the evening

1500 for everything. i used to use crazy DPIs when i had my da2013 but it just limits you no matter how much you are used to it.

For web surfing i run at 2300 and gaming i do 1800. I dont understand how people do lower it just makes it such a chore to have to pick it up and move the mouse every time i want to re aim, the only time i even lift it is when i have to fly a chopper or a plane.

Well, strictly speaking CPI isn't the only measurement to determine your sensitivity. A lot of people prefer  to use the default CPI on their mouse to avoid needing to install drivers. Another set of people are those who prefer using the native CPI of the mouse, since interpolated CPIs lead to a theoretical inaccuracy. Personally, I have ran into a several games where I had to lower my CPI simply because even the lowest sensitivity setting in the game was too high at 1150 CPI.

As for the larger movements required by lower sensitivity, most of the players who play low sensitivity do it because it makes them less prone to errors. For example, if you know that to turn 180 degrees, you need to move your mouse from one side of your mousepad to the other, that'll make your play far more consistent. For comparison, if it took 2 centimeters of movement to get that 180 degree turn, you could do that anywhere on the mousepad, meaning that you would have to rely on very, very precisely trained muscle memory, which takes a lot more time to develop. Not to mention that the latter can be totally decimated if you get a new mouse that is not 100% accurate to what it claims to be. And then you'll just have to start over.

Also, a lot of low sensitivity players have massive mousepads. In FPS games, this eliminates a lot of the need for re-centering your mouse, since the crosshair is always in the center anyway.

I own and use, sorted from newest to oldest: SteelSeries 6Gv2. Microsoft SideWinder X4. Mionix Naos 7000. Zowie EC1 Evo. Microsoft SideWinder X8. Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0. Dell U2414H. Samsung P2270H. AKG K273 Pro. Sennheiser HD555. Razer Goliathus Speed Medium. Func 1030 L. Qpad CT Medium.

I used to own: Razer DeathAdder 3G. Razer Krait. IntelliMouse Optical 1.1. SteelSeries QcK.

I fin it depressing that only myself and one other person has selected the last choice.

But legitimately I only use 800 DPI (CPI) lol, that's only because that's what my mouse is defaulted to.

  • 3 months later...

I'm curious to see what dpi everyone uses. I wanna see if there is a common number or if it is all over the place.

Personally I use 600 when I game and around 900 when I am on my desktop. (thanks to the M65 and its dpi buttons)

So what do you guys use for your mouse? Whether its just browsing the web or getting 500 kill streaks in COD.

1600, i used 800 on 60hz but apparently DPI over 1000 is beneficial to 144hz screen users so i just doubled mine.
