At that price point or lower I would say Shure 440 or CHC Silverados. The Shures really benefit from the 840 pads though.

Don't the Silverados have bad highs?

I only had them briefly and that was not the case for me. But they are only $50 so you can't expect everything from them. I did not listen to them long enough to be completely sure of those highs though.

They're much better, but they're still beats. It has that unmistakable sound signature. They're honestly WAY better than before though

Specs: 4790k | Asus Z-97 Pro Wifi | MX100 512GB SSD | NZXT H440 Plastidipped Black | Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler | MSI 290x Lightning | EVGA 850 G2 | 3x Noctua Industrial NF-F12's

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it

I'm still skeptical. Are people really saying that the Beats Solo 2 is great or are they saying that they are great in comparison to the original Beats Solo which is infamous for being plastic garbage. Have they finally made it so that the fake versions of the headphones aren't actually better than the real ones? If so, I'm intrigued. But even then, presume I were to buy them - I would look like a 10 year-old with them on; no one would take me seriously while I wear a pair of celebrity endorsed headphones which are comically overpriced.

M40X is cheaper, has a removable cable, and better pads.

It's the best headphone i ever owned.Sound quality is neutral,it has better sound than MDR V6.
