How would you rate your ability to speak/write/read the english language?

SSOB

Title basically says it.

For me the hardest part is my accent but that should go away if i ever do decide to move to US/Canada ( which i'm considering ).

I would say about 75% or so for me.

Hard to rate yourself but I'd put it somewhere between 80-95.

As always my pronunciation "sucks", well I don't like the way it sounds.

Reading and writing pose no problems for me, I actually prefer to read books in english, but I'm not quite as good at speaking english as I very rarely have to use english in my everyday life.

I didn't know you could just make your accent "go away".

since dutch has a very similar speak ( tone wise ) to english it should at least fade.

There's no option for 100%. I personally would consider myself in the region of 95%+, but that of course is my opinion.

100% is impossible.

I personally disagree that the use of slang or other colloquialisms means you can't speak good English. It's about appropriate usage of language. I'll call my mates famdem as a joke, but I would never use the word when writing an essay, for instance.

My vocab is more than enough to be appropriate for any situation.

Also, when writing on a forum, you only need to convey a very basic message in a post. A few spelling errors and bad grammar here and there isn't important in this kind of setting.

Also, true understanding of English is being able to go to any county in England and understand what they mean by their phrases. If you took "Alright my lover?" as anything other than a friendly greeting you don't truly know English and it's flexability.

100% is impossible.

I beg to differ. What about those who make the English dictionary, surely they must have a complete understanding of the language, in order to tell us details about the words used in it.

In most cases more than one person writes a dictionary, they help each other if someone does not know the meaning of something etc.

While I have absolutely no difficulties reading/writing (okay, maybe when it comes to scientific papers), I'm pretty bad when it comes to speaking English (not that any other language than my native language would be easier for me).

I know, otherwise it'd be one dictionary released every 20 years, but still, those who make dictionaries must have a better understanding of the language than anyone else, so in reality, compared to everyone else their ability is in the region of 100%
