I have a 780 and a 290 laying around and I'm currently using the 290.
You can't imagine how much shit I get at school for using an AMD card.
Everyone has Gtx 760s or something along those lines and they all hate on my 290.
And I'm like

SuperNova: CPU: Intel Core i5 4670k @4.6 GPU: Sapphire R290 Tri-x @1200, @1350, MOBO: MSI Z87 G45 Gaming, RAM: 16Gb HyperX Fury White @1866, PSU: CORSAIR TX750M, CASE: Arc Midi R2, SSD: Kingston 120gb SSD,
COOLING:
H100i w/ 2x Nb eLoop 800rpm

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

What card has more RAM? I've had countless people who are not very technical minded say that their GPU is just as good because it has the same amount of RAM.

you can overclock it and it will outperform the GTX 780m big time...

You know fools are the only people that bring you down to their level by arguing too much with them. Don't argue with them, give him real reasons about this comparison thus if he didn't want to accept the fact his GPU is slower than yours then he is a real fool!

How about running some benchmarks together and see who win.

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.
