Should Linus' tech tips be the gold standard?

I rely on several different TechTips peeps for info. Just to cross examine my data.

Life is pain. Anyone who says any different is either selling something or the government.

Linus is an unboxer. he's not a messiah, he takes stuff out of boxes and talks about it on youtube. I weigh reviews and first hand opinions above any "first looks" of products.

This also, I see a lot of people glorifying him like it's the best shit that's ever happened

I'd definitely consider his advice but I'd still do my own research and use some common sense. There are many things on which I disagree with him but he definitely has more experience with PC parts than I have. I wouldn't even bother asking about mobile tech though... he's not well informed on that.

if you asked a question on the forum, and Linus directly answered you, would that be the end-all of answers for you? no, no one is ever the END all person i wait to see the popular responses and see if it makes sense and if people else where have done it or whatever.

Would you listen to Linus, and follow his advice?

Only if it made sense if he says that tying your shoes with your mouth is faster than with your hands of course im not going to listen to him. he only holds a little more "impact/credibility" than most people. like i might believe him before i believe a guy with 15 posts, not because linus is brilliant and knows everything but because idk what this other guy knows.

i dont just blindly follow someone because they are "famous"

If was wondering specifically about the merits of a consumer grade product (pc component/phone/monitor especially), Linus is probably the guy I'm going to give the most weight too when trying to form my own opinion about something.

Kinda I suppose, but I always look at other places like logan and reviews from vortex along with other review sites etc.

I wont take just one persons OPINION as the ultimate truth without first seeking out validation from multiple sources.

I think the LTT youtube channel is a great source of information on particularly new and upcoming hardware but I think Linus really only goes over a cursory hit list of information on any given item.  Its great to gain some initial insight but there are other sources out there that offer much more indepth information.  So I would say LTT youtube videos are sure the gold standard for basic information but not for detailed in depth information on any subject.  I do not say that as a slight either.  Linus is not attempting to break down in great detail things like the PcPerspective guys for instance.  Its just not what Linus does.  What he does do he is fantastic at and provides a top quality resource.
