Considering their pacifist nature, they probably would see the US in a very interesting way.

CNN is just a more left leaning version of Fox News, why are you surprised that mainstream media reports the dumbest shit?

"these images were find on comic strips"

...

Comic strips are what you find in the sunday paper.  It's like anyone who can form a sentence is qualified to be a reporter these days regardless of actually knowing anything on the subject they are reporting on.

I lost faith in traditional media long ago... Unless I can (or other sources (at least 3 secondary sources or 1 primary source)) confirm that it's hard fact, I don't believe things...

As for CNN, they have most likely incurred the wrath of a few thousand fans (myself included)...

[Law rant]

Just like "copyright", the "Anti-child Pornography Law" has a lot of vague definitions (tl;dr anyone can be a child and anything can be pornography), strict enforcement of these would most likely put too many peole in jail... Not to mention that the conditions for cases that these laws are very exploitable (i.e. you can technically file a complaint against a kids' show... not that anyone would do that since it's too bothersome and the rewards for the risk is too small)... Say, if legislation does rule to banning anime (etc.), they would effectively stifle cultural exchange between people, and at some points even encourage the people to "break" the law (side effect of strict regulation as seen in the case of unregistered public transport vehicles in the Philippines)... But, that's just my point of view as an information professional in training who believes in the unrestricted flow of information (regulation applies)...

[/Law rant]

Oh well this is a 2 week old story and the anime community has been in rage for a couple weeks about it, I thought it had already been posted here before, but I can't find any post.

As for the other thing, a butt-ton of the LTT forums love anime. And I meant to say pervert, not pedo.

The rage is rightfully justified, though. This is no different than drawing a stick man and someone claiming it's childporn because I didn't draw breasts and clothes on it. 2D =/= reality. People need to get that through their thick skulls. I don't have a massive collection of anime stuff, but you don't have to, to realize how absurd this is. There is also the culture difference as well. I mean, to a lesser degree, just look at the character of Kirby. In box art from japan, Kirby is all smiles while the American cover art tends to be altered to be all "edgy" with angry eye brows. Japanese culture likes cute.

There is this one anime where the main character is 17 and she looks 10. Should the government /really/ waste their man power and tax payer money to go after that instead of real victims? No sane person in the world would say fake images should have a higher priority over real victims. That's why these fundamentalists are idiots. They are wanting fake images to get that same priority. I wonder how someone could live with themselves knowing a child is being raped right now, but they'd rather go after the guy with loli on his computer.

very panda, much horn

Would you be disturbed if I told you that there was a live action porn genre dedicated to girls banging (what I assume is dudes) dressed as panda's? kinda hot, only because the girls are VERY attractive (I mean like, on a scale of 1-10, they're 50's)

I feel like this is a double edged sword...

I do see how it can be bad but I don't see how it should be illegal.

I don't have a source, but it has already been ruled as not illegal in several court cases. Same thing with taking images of adults and altering them to make them look younger. It sounds gross but the legal challenges have all been made. They even made a Law and Order SVU episode about it, that's how I found out.

Anime definitely seems to be on the pervish side of things and even when it isn't I find it laughable that people watch the garbage.

The Japanese culture favors that. Not abusing children, but the idolization of older men with younger women and those men being capable of dominating those women. Watch some regular Japanese porn, the girls always sound like they are being hurt, not enjoying themselves.

You will be capable of being a pedo when you are 16 in 'murika I think. And it has to be somebody who is like under 7 iirc.

Pedophilia as defined in my dictionary: is the sexual attraction/interaction('s) with prepubescent children, legally you'd be tried for it regardless of pubescent status if they're under the age of consent, sometimes that's the common age of majority (18) others it's lower (16) and in a few it may be 21 (I'm unsure) though the most common is 18 years.

And adulthood is not required of the pedophile by the definition, legally or linguistically defined.

But my dictionary is more than 70 years old, so the fuck do I know?

Do not  as I  do, and  not  as I say. Instead do as you may..

I could see why they would think that, but Anime shouldn't be banned! I just started watching Ghost Stories' a little while ago and I don't wanna be stopped from watching it!

About watching regular Japanese porn eh well I have given up watching porn since my son found some content on my pc he wasn't supposed to find.  It has been I don't know how many days since I watched it and I am aiming for 365 days without porn.  As for what you said about Japanese porn I get the picture.

Okay okay, I've spent a little bit of time with the article. I only bothered to watch the first minute and a half of the video.

Let's get this out of the way right now.

You (yes, you OP) and the guy in the video are sensationalizing the article.

I don't recall anywhere in the article it mentioning that general anime/manga is child porn. The article from CNN is saying why explicit anime/manga featuring "child porn" should be banned.

With actual child pornography, there are real people being abused there. It's sick, gross, and 100% illegal. With anime/manga, there are no real people being hurt, so *technically* it is perfectly legal, but man is it messed up. I personally don't agree with anime/manga makers making "child porn" (I know it technically isn't, but I'm not sure what else to call it right now), but since no real people are being abused/shown in the anime/manga, then it's legally acceptable to be sold.

So what do I say about this? I say it's gross, but it's perfectly legal to sell. It's just another piece of adult content except it features animated characters doing explicit things. It would probably be a better move to put all of these adult anime/manga in their own anime/manga shop and away from the SFW stuff. Not saying that there aren't already, but there should be a clean cut between the SFW side of the store and the NSFW side of the store.

Even if you have a banner that says "18+ only", do you really think people under 18 will follow that rule? No. If adult anime/manga are contained in their own shop, then it would be easier to filter who all comes into the store. That's how I see it anyways.

TL;DR version

-OP/video is sensationalizing the article

-Animated/drawn explicit images of children is gross (IMO), but perfectly legal, since nobody IRL is being abused/shown/hurt

As a side note, if anybody could explain the last part of the article, that would be great, because it literally doesn't make any sense to me.

99aee7fb2f.png

It is NOT ok because it encourages the behaviour IRL. If it isn't deterring it, it's promoting it. It's wrong.
