what bothers you in proposed builds?

Recommended Posts

This thread is straight forward. The amazing part of this community is to give feedback when someone has a proposed build in mind. There have been some builds that were completely solid and there have been builds that were imbalanced.

What are things you've seen that made you go nope?

For me, one of the biggest gripe has been rigs with beefy specs that had inappropriate peripherals for the given price point. Example; beast set up worth several grand mated to cheap tn based monitors vs one good monitor or even 2 moderate displays. Seems like a huge waste to me.

SNOWHEART - laptop

Model: TRACER III 17R XTREME VR 800 || CPU: Intel i7-8750H  || RAM: HyperX Impact 16GB || GPU: Nvidia RTX 2070 || Storage: Intel 660P 512GB +  AData SX8200 1TB + Samsung 850 Evo 250GB || Display: 1920x1080p 144hz

PRISIMHEART 2.0 - desktop

PERIPHERALS / DISPLAY

Keyboard: Razer Blackwidow Elite || Mouse: Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum + Steelseries RIval 650 || Monitor: HP Omen 32

Mainly the replies, not the build itself. Some don't bother to read why that person is going for that choice of parts and will still give their usual criticism.

The lack of a simple "Thank you to those who helped" reply in the end of the thread.

Well, peripherals are easy to swap out, so if somebody has a hard maximum budget, I can certainly understand having cheap temporary placeholders to max out the hardware. Admittedly, its easier to make that justification for mouse/KB rather than monitors, however.

Haven't seen this here much, but when people want to buy i7's when they're strictly gaming (or even only light video editing) and not be able to get a higher performing GPU.

I think it just has to do with people not actually knowing the benefits or benchmarks of CPU's - only looking at the model numbers.

Everyone that is wanting an i7 apparently does video editing. Guess what I do it too but I don't need an i7 most of the people doesn't

What you call criticism is often not that.  It is an opinion given by the person trying to help.  That is what is asked for many times.

COLORS THAT DON'T FUCKING MATCH.

This^ and when people really want a component that doesn't make sense and they give NO REASON FOR HAVING IT.  IF they just explained why like "It fits with my build aestetically" or "I like the onboard audio in my mobo" then I don't have a problem. They understand what they are buying and they have a valid reason for buying it. Everything else I don't care about.

An example of what I mean is "I already have an i7 so I may as well use it" Yet still people reply "You dont need and i7 for gaming, get and i5"

No point in suggesting to get something else if an item that will essentially give the same performance is already owned by the consumer, correct?

If there is anything that bothers me in proposed builds it is that I do not have one right now.  Someone give me $10000 cash so I can propose some build and get a few new computers.

Or like when I was deciding between the hero and the formula. I posted a poll and SPECIFICALLY said it was between thes two and NO others so don't suggest others. Out of the three pages of replies ONE person voted commented why and left. Everyone else was suggesting other motherboards with a minimal price reduction and features that were missing.

I hate when a proposed build thread leads to off topics and general discussions like this.

I'd like to note that the context is what matters.

Why only those two? If I recall the thread properly, all you said was "Well I narrowed it down to those two." And, in the end, a conclusion was drawn upon...

I really wish that we'd just make organic hardware already, that grows and adapts to the demands it needs to meet. That way, grannies' computers can be floppy sacks of organicness and the 12 year old Minecrafters will look like the guys that only do bicep curls, and the nerdy programmers will finally have justice, with their body-builder rigs that skipped leg day.

Why are we creating more arguements based off what I said in the heat of a moment?
