@Grumpy Old ManI didn't read your description at first and thought this was another garbage find.  I was about to come to your dumpsters.

Nice watch, nice wife. 😊

I'm updating my office hi-fi soon-ish, and bought a new DAC in anticipation of loosing my current one:

IMG_20201111_175943.thumb.jpg.4049e3cf67d169c3b4d5ca059015a06b.jpg

It's a Topping D90 without MQA support. It sounds rather nice and clean compared to the one I used to have.

Got myself the - now kind of old kit - G.SKILL CL16 3600MHz 32GB (4x8GB) Trident Z RGB (F4-3600C16Q-32GTZR). I wanted to upgrade to 32GB of RAM and all the new kits aren't fully supported on the Z370 - well atleast that's what G.SKILL told me. I originally wanted their new CL14 3600MHz RAM kit but CL14 is appearently too much for the Z370, according to their testing, so I went for the F4-3600C16Q-32GTZR instead 🙂

My latest purchase was actually a HX1200i from Corsair but it was dead on arrival. So that is currently going back to the retailer I bought it at, so they can test it for themselves, so I can get a new one. Hopefully it won't take too long.

In my infinite haste of wondering how I own four copies of Gran Turismo 3 and a rare Japanese demo to go along with it, I decided that I needed to satisfy my collection with the addition of a regular US copy of the game.

GMA92.png

And yes, that's implying that I own a Japanese copy, too... and two Greatest Hits copies... and a pack-in version of the game.

No, I don't understand how I don't own an original copy of this game. It's not like I've never been around it: one of my uncles had a copy of the regular US version. I've just never had one myself.

Hako Royal Clear Switches

Tactile | 50g Actuation | 85g Bottom Out

With this recent purchase, I now have linear switches, clicky switches, and tactile switches in my inventory! 😁

Going to bury this memory of paying $18 in shipping fees because I couldn't find Hako Royal Clears for a decent price per switch in the U.S, REEEEEEEEE--

I have smol plans for the Hako Royal Clears, and don't plan on using them as stock switches. I'll post something in status updates, so... stay tuned? 👀

InB4 I turn into a Kailh shill. 🤣

Okay, but I love the BOX design. It's cute. And nicely symmetrical. My OCD approves. 👀💦

Current Switch Collection:

  • Hako Royal Clears (100 pcs)
  • Kailh BOX Black Switches (100 pcs)
  • Kailh Speed Gold Switches (51 pcs) - GMMK TKL
  • Kailh BOX Ancient Gray Switches (71 pcs) - GMMK TKL
  • Kailh BOX Glazed Green Switches (60 pcs) - Den-Fi's GK64
  • Kailh BOX Jade Switches (4 pcs) - Den-Fi's GK64
  • Gateron Blue Switches (21 pcs) - Den-Fi's Qisan Magicforce Numpad

Switches highlighted in green were kindly gifted by Den-Fi. 😭💕

But interest got the best of me, so now I'm curious as to if this is an Xbox One APU thrown onto a Micro-ATX motherboard or if it's something else completely. I'll consider it as an early Christmas gift. Expect a build log and review of the entire thing sometime in the end of November or early December.

Yeah, I'm pretty fucking pissed, too. I was really looking forward to making a secondary capture rig with this.

its sort of weird just holding something that cost more than my entire PC

maybe it was sort of a dumb purchase but I love it

Haha yeah I know that feeling. I'm currently debating getting another watch, an entry level luxury. It's hard to make that decision though because there's soooo many other things you could buy but instead you end up deciding on a rather useless piece of vintage tech lmao.

On your Seiko though, I have a similar one on my wishlist but it's really rare and not that high on my priority list. It's the SARX029

So.

Imagine having a busy but satisfying day at work, but then your mood takes a dive because of lollygaggers at the grocery store and because some people suck at driving. You're tired, unamused, and hangry.

And then you come home to this:

1504118841_Purchase-Thinkpad1.thumb.jpg.c81aa526f4a2698911462af4a08c6b4a.jpg

Oh. Oh my.

Why hello there, beautiful.

Actual (Very Un-Suave) Mood: Fast Parrot YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MY THINKPAD T14 (AMD) ARRIVED TODAY! Fast Parrot

Lenovo's product page said it'd ship out in 5-7 business days, but it actually took around 2 weeks for it to begin shipping. (I did anticipate it being delayed, though.) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Scary to think that thus far, I've paid a whopping $0 for the product, thanks to Klarna financing (fancy word for a loan). I didn't need to take a loan and I have the full amount prepared just in case; I just felt uncomfortable forking over my money for a product that wouldn't arrive in my hands until who-knows-when.

WELL IT'S IN MY HANDS NOW! Fast Parrot HYYYPEEE! Fast Parrot

I guess I'm spending the rest of tonight tweaking around with its preferences and settings. 👀

Specs:

Spoiler

Main Specs

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 4750U
  • Memory: 16 GB DDR4-3200 MHz (Soldered)
    • + 1 Unoccupied RAM Slot (Non-Soldered)
  • Storage: 1 TB PCIe SSD
  • Graphics: Integrated AMD Radeon Graphics
  • Display: 14.0" FHD (1920 × 1080), IPS, Anti-Glare, Touchscreen w/Privacy Guard, 500 Nits
  • Wireless: Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 802.11AX (2 x 2), Bluetooth 5.1
  • Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

Extras

  • IR & 720p HD Camera
  • Fingerprint Reader

Yes, I could've shaved off a few thousand pennies by customizing my T14 -- the current specs are a bit overkill for my uses (work and study -- no gaming). Unfortunately, that also means longer wait times, and with my current laptop about to die on me, I'm not exactly in a position to wait.

I SHOULD'VE WAITED TWO DAYS, THOUGH. MY DUMB ASS COULD'VE SAVED $130 FROM THE DUMB LENOVO EARLY BLACK FRIDAY SALE. REEEEEEEEE--

That matte black is damn gorgeous in person. Absolutely my aesthetic.

Ohhh, the keyboard is wonderful. Fn key is in a weird place, I guess I'll just have to get used to it?

Fingerprint reader is also a very nice QOL feature. Very responsive. Could see myself using it. 👀

('Chew actually disdains fingerprint and facial recognition unlocks, but I did pay for the feature, so...)
