Ah, no, we don't have that here. We have plenty of webpages but I go to my optrician to get my lenses. I'm due December/January (I got them at the end of this January).

Specsavers is an optometrist, free eye tests and cheap glasses.

The thing is, if you chose the highest-end lenses like I basically had to based on my requirements, they can't be that much cheaper than what the manufacturer asks for. I am already at the optometrist that is known to be among the cheapest in Germany (Fielmann). The eye tests (unless you want a certificate for your drivers licence) are also free. And they also have insurance-paid frames and were pivotal in increasing their selection but they didn't please me.

Edit: And don't get me wrong, they also offer these insurance-paid frames with really cheap perscription lenses, a relative of mine has two glassed (one for seeing far and driving his car, the other for reading) and they were 36€ combined.

The breakdown on mine was €270 for lenses (that included everything you mentioned along with polarising for the sunglasses), €129 for frames (buy one get one free) and €30 for a 3D scan of my eyes (in hindsight this was a waste of money), the eye test was covered by me paying my taxes.

I'm not sure if they have specsavers in germany but its definitely worth looking into

Really looking to Baldur’s Gate 3. I hope the new devs do it justice.

Tagging @LukeSavenije just 'cuz.

My CX450M's fan finally started clicking. We all knew that was the component that would fail first because goddamn sleeve bearing fan (but hey, I paid like $40 for it).

So I decided to treat myself to a nicer unit now :D

This is the Phanteks AMP 550W ($95-ish, and the same as the Seasonic Focus Plus GX).

Only problems with it are efficiency at really low loads and the transient response of the 3.3V rail (even then it's not so bad).

Huge photo dump:

Spoiler

PSU10.thumb.jpg.24bd884b743918e382d0fd3223a3e556.jpg

Packaging is not bad. The PSU came in a possibly unnecessary synthetic fabric bag, but on the other hand the bag for the cables is much appresh.
PSU09.thumb.jpg.094980a6101cb613d739e2bbd1373327.jpg

Speaking of which, you get 2 6-2 pins and 2 4+4 EPS connectors. So you could actually run a dual socket system. You better be able, considering the premium price. Plus a grand total of TWELVE Sata including the adapter. Wait, did someone say Molex? What's that?

PSU08.jpg.1dbbdba9729df0e99dadd319fe879043.jpg

The previus PSU. Its fan is now near death (clicks really loudly). You gave a good service, soldier. o7

PSU05.jpg.468472dada763b61506a573ff27a9a72.jpg

This is really nice. The +4 pins are clicked in place with some mechanism. Other PSUs that have it fully separate are a pain to connect sometimes.

PSU03.jpg.236b8b5254e3bddd65e3536e6ab05cc2.jpg

Broke the little plastic pin on the CPU Fan header. Godd condemn it! Now I'll have to rember the right side is the IO side.PSU02.thumb.jpg.37516c9ac22098aa324011563ecbb7dd.jpg

The 6+2 pin PCIe connectors are separate, and ribbon. Boy I knew they were going to be a pain to route around.PSU01.thumb.jpg.453fcef6ded5caa0141ca2f7e38756f9.jpg

And it was. Boy cable management was a pain in the gluteus maximus. The final job looks a little sloppy, but I'm not obsessive enough to go further. This case has very little space for cable management, since it's not very long.

Turn the unit on, no fan movement at all. No clicking, no nothing. God Bless America Seasonic. Praise Jeepers.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

Yay GX buddies!

And I really don't care that efficiency is like 72% at 10W. That's only 2.8W dissipated / lost.

Now that efficiency at full load would be a different story (55 times the heat dissipated lol)

Probably not. I arguably should have waited, but I only bought the 2080 a few weeks ago. This is my first big upgrade since 2012, so I try not to worry about the next big thing coming in a few months since I know that whatever I buy will still last me 5+ years.

Saw this used Tissot watch on sale and I just had to get it, first time I've come across a watch that is both an automatic and a quartz watch. I love this idea/concept and snagged it right away, it was running perfectly but somewhat scratched up, so I sent it (together with one of my well worn watch) for polishing and it came back looking like new!

Bought an XBone controller for my PC. Specifically to play things like the LEGO games where the keyboard controls are just awful.

Move aside 1650x1050 Samsung LCD monitor from 2006. Hello 27" Samsung 1440p 144Hz Curved monitor (LC27JG52QQNXZA). For $320 CAD before tax, I think I got a pretty good deal. I do plan on using this thing for at least the next 10 years if not as long as the old one, so not a bad investment. Poor 550Ti can barely get the desktop running now. Gaming performance now... it doesn't do that anymore. (also rip iPhone 6s low light performance)

Not tech related but picked up a Dagotto footrest from Ikea. Ergonomics much improved for another full online semester.

Bought a few month old LG ATMOS/DTS-X capable soundbar to replace the regular 3.1 Samsung soundbar I had (sold it off already).

Installing it was a breeze, my Xbox One X was updating when I took this shot...nice looking set, will be putting it to good use in the coming days for NetFlix and some of my Bluray movies. On the 24th, I will be using it for some Serious Sam 4 fragging action, not on my XBox but with my HTPC!
