Well not just that. I'm part Japanese and I'd love to someday go to rural Aomori to see where my grandmother lived before the war, and maybe meet some extended family and actually be able to communicate with them. And to see where my mom lived as a little kid in Hachinohe before the family moved west.

I had been wanting to start studying Japanese for a while and when I was watching the Persona 2019 concert in late April last year and saw Persona 5 The Royal get a Halloween 2019 release date in Japan but an unannounced (at the time) 2020 date in the west that was the last straw. I'm nowhere close to being able to really play a Persona game in Japanese though. My comprehension playing Persona 5 in full Japanese with a Japanese copy was pretty poor last time I tried a couple of months ago. I'd have some sentences where I'd understand them fully but lots where I wouldn't know like three words in the sentence, and it's hard to get much out of a sentence where you have two or more missing pieces you don't get. After Tobira I'll give Persona 5 another try though in Japanese and for now stick to easier things like reading Yotsuba and NHK Easy News articles.

Switch Lite in Gray, Switch Travel Case, Oppo Reno 2Z, Screen Protector for Reno even though one is included which I didn't know but hey I've got two now, Minecraft and Mario Kart 8 for Switch, Joy-it armor case for my Pi 4, Noctua NT-HS - finally got my very own tube of the best Thermal paste and Arctic Silver Arcticlean - it was recommended to me so I figured I'd try it out. I've also ordered a Bluetooth adapter for the Switch so that I can use my ANC Headphones with it because it doesn't have Bluetooth built in even though the WiFi Chip would support it, ikr. lol.

Also this is the last picture taken with my old OnePlus5T. Only Sharp and clear Photos from now on.

More studio crap. Finally decided on my subwoofers.

image.png.afa01119257527ad23a7a97d9436d2a9.png

Best subwoofers Genelec sell, that won't look silly big in my listening room/studio.

This is the model above them, which is just silly:

image.thumb.png.378fa693e829b38257e99c03f4f86a31.png

Also sat on these, waiting to have a bit more dosh before springing on them. I want to leave my "HiFi" speakers alone for home cinema stuff, and use just monitors for surround mastering.

Main speaker setup is now;

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)

I was tired of my $20 speaker made out of a Dayton Audio exciter and a piece of poplar plywood. So I impulsively bought a pair of Klipsch RP 600M speakers with a Yamaha RN 402 amp for 600€ (regular price 1000€ for the combo). I couldn’t believe the deal. The price of the RP 600M actually shot up last year because of all the hype. And they’re on sale? Whaaat? I also love how the amp works over WiFi and connects to the TV via optical.

My first impressions were negative. I was expecting a warm sounding set of speakers to chill to. My dad’s Q Acoustics 3020 are what I actually wanted. Instead, the Klipsch are bright and lean. But they’re growing on me. They sound very clear and lively. My issue is that the Klipsch are quite fussy with the source material. Compressed music with mostly mids sounds blah. But well recorded music is a joy. And the Klipsch are great at movies too.

So I’m on the fence with the Klipsch... I would give them 3/5. Not what I wanted, but impressive nonetheless.

PS: Don’t mind the awful speaker placement. I’m staying at my parents’ house and they have this really dumb shelf. You can’t fit a large TV inside. It’s shaped like a staircase. I’ll have my own place in 2 years time. It’s being built right now.

I got new Skis, well my dad paid for them. The ones on the left are mine, those in the middle belong to my brother and the ones on the right are my dads. Will post pictures when I'm on the Skipiste next week in full suit because I've also got a new helmet and Ski Shoes.

New tings. Got a mixer for myself for stereo mixing/mastering and an AD/DA interface, 7 studio monitors (for surround mastering/mixing), and of course the controller for them.

Now I just need to find speaker stands that can support a speaker that weighs 160 LBS.

Bought a new phone the other day.

257-7170827-7846725?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd

I posted a mini review over in the phones/tablets sub forum... But it's pretty good for the price... I didn't need to upgrade but my mum was starting to struggle with her old phone (I always give her my old ones, so she doesn't have to buy them, and she knows she's getting a decent one because I don't buy garbage).

I have a rule... my phones should cost no more than roughly £200... I don't do contracts, sim only.. and I pay £10 a month for unlimited calls/txts and 7GB of data.

What drew me to this phone was my previous ones have also been Motorola... Last one was the G5 S Plus (Which my mum now has and loves... no more entering a pin to unlock it... she can do it with her fingerprint)... Is Motorola's near vanilla android experience... I hate bloat, I loathe overlays... but more than that... I despise the lack of timely updates to the latest OS and monthly security updates.  Motorola has promised 2 OS updates and 3yrs of security updates. Short of Google themselves... it's hard to think of another  android brand that does that much... and there's no baked in, impossible to remove/disable apps at all.  It's a win all round for me.

The camera is decent, 48mp in a quad pixel layout, giving an effective 12mp camera with great quality and the zoom is decent too... My one gripe is the noise on night visions mode.  The front camera is a healthy 25mp one too that is surprisingly good.

But one of the biggest selling points for me... that I've been arguing for over the last 10yrs.... Is that since the advent of people filming video on their cameras... we've all had to suffer with shitty video in PORTRAIT mode... Not any more... they've finally flipped the camera so it will record LANDSCAPE, when you are holding the phone portrait... About frickin time.... Hoofrickinray.  That alone is worth it for me.

As for cost... retails for £270, I paid £209... My mum paid nothing for her upgrade.  :)

Haha thanks.

I mostly do mastering for smaller bands, or "audiophile" bands.

I also do some stuff for businesses wanting films made for promotions etc, Also do 7.2 mixing, which can be interesting, it's great when it works correctly though.

Usually I get sent some stuff from work along with an objective, then work with the client to get what they want done, It's fun to work close to the client, I've also done some stuff with people like Simon Honywill, who does all the sound design for festivals like Glastonbury, and he also does FOH, really great guy. Also a Martin Audio ambassador.

I am hoping to transition into free-lancing or Acoustic engineer soon though, I'm pretty young so I'd like to throw myself into something a bit different than sat behind a desk surrounded by scary speakers that look like they can suck your soul out.

LTT's Resident Porsche fanboy and nutjob Audiophile.

Main speaker setup is now;
