No you dont, as long as there is airflow over it (which your case fans should be enough) it will be fine.

I picked up a used Acer Aspire V5-171 mini laptop with an i3, 4Gb of RAM and a half terabyte HD with a 11.6 inch display. Got it home and grabbed 16Gb of DDR3 I had collecting dust and wiped the drive completely and dispensed with Windows 8 then installed 7...yeah I know 10 is nice...(not!) but for the use this thing will see 7 is perfect. Runs quite a bit better with 4 times the base RAM in it.

Trident-Z 4x8GB 3600 C15 because I wanted to see if TR would run 3600.

It did.

Apparently it's part of the design of the XPS 15, I got it second hand with a sata m.2 drive but he removed the thermal pad that comes pre-applied, It contacts the aluminium bottom panel to dissipate heat, at the moment the Nvme drive is thermal throttling at 70 degrees C and the pad should reduce it by around 30 ish degrees C.

And that point when you remember that those shitty m.2 shields MSI put on there mobos have thermal pads on them and I could've used that.. :/

Edit: its too thin xD

I bought them from KBDFans. Good prices and selection. And the order arrived a week after placing the order.

Novelkeys has a few switches that KBDFans doesn't have, and might have cheaper prices for some switches (the Cherry MX Black is $0,40 cheaper, quite randomly). Buying Zealios straight from ZealPC can be cheaper than KBDFans, if you're buying those.

KBDFans seems to also sell at least some their products on eBay, sometimes that's cheaper than buying from their website.

Probably some other good stores, but those are the ones I've checked some prices for.

:)
