I was using some spare but crap cables when I hooked up my Oppo HA-1 to my NHT SA-2 sub amplifier, there was some interference so I went out and bought a bunch of custom cables (Amphenol RCA plugs and Canare cable) as well as a speaker cable for the sub (I was using my old cable which was pretty oxidised). One thing about I'd noticed, the noise caused by the interference has been reduced by a good margin till I'd have to put my ears next to the speakers to hear a soft crackling. Only time it gets louder is when I play games (coil whine?).....pretty happy with the end result nonetheless.

My Xbox Design Labs controller came in today.  My gamer tag is engraved, but it doesn't show up in pictures very well.

Currently focusing on my video game collection.

It doesn't matter what you play games on, just play good games you enjoy.

That lot (including the DVI cable I had to purchase but haven't taken a picture of because HP didn't bother supplying one with the 22kd I purchased) pretty much used up all that remained of my December financial allowances, but it at least brings one of my computers (and the only one that can) up to the bottom end of PCMR levels of gaming.

Yeah. RPi3 runs hotter than older versions of the Pi, so I decided to get a case with some free heatsinks to keep the machine cool.

I just got this S model Xbox One to replace my basic 500GB black Xbox One.

I'm a little annoyed the HDD isn't larger thsn my old Xbox One but I wanted the blue when I saw it and besides I don't want to pay more than I have to since I plan to get a Scorpio Xbox one when that's released next year.

I'm mainly getting this to give myself 4K movie playback capability in preparation for getting a 4K TV hopefully sometime soon.

I'm planning to save up for a 4K and get one assuming I can find a 47 or 49 inch LG or possibly Samsung 4K tv.  Preferably LG since my current tv is lg and I really like it.

One with HDR might be nice if pc games or movies would support it but idk if they do or not.

Edit: In case it matters to anyone I paid for most of this with money/Amazon gift cards I got as Christmas presents and from trading in my Xbox One to Amazon so I only paid about $18 out of my savings and $12 of that was because I splurged on Saturday delivery from Amazom.  Thank Godoka it was only $12 extra because of my prime membership.

New graphics cards excite me so yay you got a new one.  ?

Though I'm wondering is that PSU decent quality?

It's not a B2 model at least I don't think.

Is a 1050 ti suitable for your gaming needs?

(I ask because I'm foggy about it's performance relative to other 9 or 10 series Nvidia cards.)

Is Zotac a good brand?

I've heard the name but I've only ever used a MSI 970 or my current Gigabyte 1070.

The P/N on the box is 100-B1-0450-K3, so it's unlikely to be a B2 model.

The 1050Ti will be sufficient for what the system it's installed in will be doing once I have a more dedicated gaming system built, but it can still run master of orion in ultra setting (even though that wasn't what the GFE was suggesting was the optimal settings) and stick to the 100fps mark (although there's a bit of screen tearing in sonic generations I need to sort out).

I wouldn't know if Zotac are a good brand (beyond what I've seen of their mini PC lines) as my choice was between either that card or the Palit variant which ran at stock clocks for the GPU as they were the same price at the time, so the extra 13Mhz base and 25Mhz boost clocks of the zotac card won out (there was a gigabyte model on sale at the time that had even higher base and boost clocks, but there wasn't enough money in the funds to get the extra power).

I'm guess the B1 in that means it's a B1 model.  I'd have to check on the quality but I thing it'll be good enough.  Pretty it's sure it more the EVGA models that aren't even bronze rated (not that efficiency is 100% related to quality) that are best avoided.

Where were you buying from that only had those brands?

Does 13Mhz and 25Mhz for those make any difference?

I honestly have no idea.  ?

So you are planning to build a more high spec build eventually?

Idk.  It might only still be available because of the small HDD.

I'm going to temporarily use some trashy ATX case from work, but eventually go to a completely custom case that should be roughly console sized. I'm going to use a riser cable for the GPU.

Didn't buy these, but I finally got 'round to hooking up the NHT SA-2 sub amplifier to my Sony SS-WS81 sub woofer. I did the connections with the cables I have at hand, and those I'd gotten quite recently. The Bose 201's were bought from my friend, who then threw in the NHT SA-2 sub woofer amp and the Sony SS-WS81 sub woofer (not in pic, obviously). At the volume level as seen in pic (if you can make it out), my whole room was rumbling!
