Because a Ryzen 2600 would be slower then a x79 system with a overclocked 8 or 12 core Xeon with faster quad channel ddr3 ran.

Maybe comparing a golden Ivy Bridge to an average 2600. Otherwise, the IPC deficit of a chip like the E5-1680 V2 puts it behind the 2600 for everything other than all core performance (and in that case, the difference is pathetic).

The minuscule gain in all core is not worth the trade off in single core or quad core performance, or limiting the user to a dead platform.

And quad channel DDR3 on an older platform, on a Xeon, isn't going to beat out dual channel DDR4 on a far more current platform in most tasks. That becomes especially true if we're resorting to overclocking to get a decrepit system to just shy of parity of a mid end system.

Ok, stupid question maybe, but why would anyone buy a relatively old board and CPU for the around same price as something like a ryzen 5 2600 and a good b450 motherboard?

Unless you're an enthusiast that likes old and retro components, need specific features of the platform, or what you're buying is genuinely more powerful (not the case here), you shouldn't.

I bought... a tool... that'll let me use my VCR with my new capture card.

That reminds me, I need to capture a couple of videos to hold my channel over while that ships.

Going back to PS4 this coming week and just sold my XBO off.  Went to walmart and another store and got all this crap too.

20190601_184424.jpg?width=507&height=676

The 2 gallons of distilled water were 1.60 USD.  One is for drinking while moving, and the other one is to drain my loop next weekend for when I'm moving.  Got some Seltzer and a 0 calorie cola from a nearby store.

I don't care that only got 92 bucks from gamestop for the xbo s and few games for it that I had.  I only have room at the new place for 1 console due to my PC hoarding.  XD

Also traded 2 Neo Geo things to a friend he is giving me the case for Surtr rather than just paying me for it.

I picked up an Alienware X51 R2 late last year as a project. It was barebones with just the case, motherboard, RAM, and external PSU. I finally got motivated and bought the rest of the build. I ended up with an i5-4460, RX 570 4 GB, and a TEAM 240 GB SSD. All in, I spent $268.60 for everything.

A techie purchase still, but I recently bought a NETGEAR Nighthawk S8000. Been eyeing it for a while but I'm glad I finally did. Can't stop looking at it in the meantime as I would with other electronic purchases and new games, even when it is just a case. No photos as I can't be bothered to take a quick snap (haha) but an overview of it is here.

I had some credit left at Menards that I have had sitting around for a while, so today I picked up the 10" and 12" Knipex Cobras for ~$7 out of pocket.

Well, finally joined the mechanical keyboard owners club, Corsair K68 RGB set to all white at the moment, gonna take some getting used to over a near dead Logitech K800 keyboard. Definitely a different feel with real switches and actual keys like IO used to use when I was a child on an old IBM Model M.

@valdyrgramr I just traded my RegukarRegular PS4 for the PS4 Pro, Sekiro runs and looks better, I'm pleased : )

I have Sekiro on PC, but I'm really only playing Destiny 2 here and there on PS4 cuz a friend asked me to come back.  I've had a pro and the difference really isn't that massive because it's basically the same HW just a tad more custom/clocked higher, iirc.  On top of that the consoles use tricks like checkerboarding and other crap to game somewhat at 4k.  If I want a game to look purdy I'll just play it on PC at 4k where my frame rate is actually decent.  Getting a Radeon VII in 2 months.

The 2700 is on sale for $209... which is almost $100 off the regular price.  That's going for less than what they go for used usually.  I decided to jump on the sale as a result.  Idk when my ram will be here, Rakuten hasn't updated the shipping since the 29th, other than it shipped with UPS.

But once this and that get here, my upgrade will be complete.

I have a kill-a-watt, super simple and easy to use. Also it's interesting to see how much electricity appliances like my toaster use.

Hardware I got off sale areas around some forums.

Two NVMe drives, 970 Pro 512GB and an Intel 660p 2TB.

Then nab some 32GB of DDR4 sticks off another chap.  Mostly just to throw into one of my systems to tinker with.

Now, back to eyeing those GTs I saw at another sales area.

I bought some additional for my study. I can't share the picture cause I have alredy gave it to my teacher. It was coursework that I ordered at www.papersowl.com and I got an excellent paper. No doubt that I spent my money in right way.

P.S. I am too lazy to do any papers on my own :D
