Haha.

But I think what amazes me about the ASUS (and the current gaming laptops in general) is how we’re getting closer to desktop-levels of performance while also reducing its overall size.

It wasn’t too long ago where gaming laptops were huge bricks and their GPUs only provided somewhere around 40% of the performance of their desktop counterparts.

I know right? God look at my laptop even. Roughly 250CB in R15 at around 40 watts of draw and a craptastic GPU drawing god knows how much... Now this GPU is like entry-level shitty laptop performance and roughly Pentium/i3U mobile CPU performance (if I had to guess).

Just got myself a new server, had one a long time ago for home use just to make stuff easier for overnight use as I want a machine to stay online 24/7 365.

Didn't want anything super beefy or anything like that so got a Dell PowerEdge T110, its only an entry level server but its perfect for what I want to do with it!

Specs:

Intel Core i3 540 Dual Core (Quad Thread) @ 3.06Ghz

2GB of DDR3 1366Mhz Memory (May up this to 4-10 GB Depending on its use case)

500GB Hard Drive (Didn't come with one but I keep all my files on a NAS anyway)

Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard (Licences are cheap and 2016 Wouldn't install for some odd reason).

All of this WITH the licence only cost me £70 Delivered, Massive bargain for server grade equipment and its small enough to put anywhere!

I got a poweredge r410 with 2x quad core xeons 16gb ram only problem is its like a jet taking off

So unimpressive I didn't even take a picture: A mechanical 1tb WD Blue.

Story is that I was fixing an AIO desktop for a relative because the hdd was getting randomly undetected. So I tested the rig with my Linux Mint SSD for like an hour, no issues whatsoever.

I went and bought the 1tb Blue drive, installed it and half way through the Win10 install it gave me errors about not being able to read the files. Did it twice and after the third try the hdd was not even being detected anymore. So it's basically either bad power/sata cable or bad mobo.

So seeing how I got stuck with a 1tb drive that's slightly better performing than my current external (5400rpm vs 7600rpm) and well, I already paid for it anyway so I'm out of the money, I just decided to turn it into my steam library disk and leave the other external as my videos and music drive.

The lowly 7570 got here last night for my beater PC (in signature of course) and it's honestly a good bit better than I expected it'd be. It's even the model with better core count, so that was a nice bonus.

Thats the issue with rackmount servers, they are like jets, the T110 is quite quiet so its great for home use, plus with the i3 it doesn't get that warm :).

I'd take a picture of my latest purchase except it's damn near impossible to take a picture of my phone with my phone.

I switched from Verizon prepaid to AT&T prepaid.  Why?  Because for $20 more than what I'm currently paying, AT&T has unlimited data, on prepaid!

Well my Galaxy S5 wasn't working with data on AT&T, so I went with a max budget of $200 to buy a new phone.

The 32GB iPhone SE was on sale for $199.

I So I got that, in space grey

speaker.PNG.fc9d01a6bbfc7ad350b635375a72b93e.PNG

Bought a bluetooth speaker to use in the dorm.  I looked up the best bluetooth speakers under $50 and this one was on every list near the top, so I went with it.  It actually kicks ass for the price.

Oh, I just bought a Core i5 2500K from my coworker for $40.

Also about $900 in textbooks for college.

Currently focusing on my video game collection.

It doesn't matter what you play games on, just play good games you enjoy.

No, indoor temperature, humidity, barometric pressure and CO2 logging via WiFi.

And outdoor temperature, humidity and barometric pressure logging via SigFox.

No that’s th view. :P should have framed it to try make it look even more like a screen. Would have been fun.

A 1970's pressing of Black Sabbath's Sabotage. I couldn't pass it up as it was only £8, even if it isn't a Vertigo pressing. I'll play it tomorrow to see what it sounds like.

It was such a surprise. A new record store opened in town a month ago, so I think I've found my new hangout.
