You bought one now ? Wouldn't it have been a better idea to wait for 1-2 months and see how a potential Volta 2070 and 2080 would perform first ?

That's the thing with tech, why not wait a few months for X. Then X is released and it's why don't you wait a few months for Y.

I picked up an Elitebook 8770w.

It's a freaking tank, but that's what I like about it. Beats the pants off of my Sony Vaio POS that I've been using.

It's got the following specs

Core i7 3520m @ 2.9ghz

8GB DDR3 RAM (which I'm looking to upgrade to 16GB)

500GB Samsung 840 EVO

2TB HDD

I'm not a huge computer gamer (Oblivion is the most intensive game I have). I bought it because I wanted a solid laptop, not the plastic pieces of junk you get at Wal-Mart (been there, done that). I got to use the 8570 at a work seminar last week and I really liked it. Went to buy one on Ebay and found that the 17" was around $400 (which was my budget).

I'm mostly going to use it for general computing, running a Plex media server and school.

The only things I'm looking to do are upgrade the RAM to 16GB, swap the keyboard to the one with backlight support (which is on the way), and eventually swap out the display to one of the supported 1920x1080p displays, upgrading from the 1600x900 display it currently has.

FJIMG_20170502_211230.jpg

Update to this post, I bought the backlight keyboard and got the display upgraded to 1080p. Ended up putting a glossy display in it and it looks great.

That's Ø (meaning Zero or Void) by K.F.R. and Look at What You Have Done of Me (Split)  by K.F.R. and Old Burial Temple.

Black metal/dark ambient by K.F.R. and ritualistic dark ambient/noise by Old Burial Temple.

Both will, however, serve as fuel for your nightmares for the next month ot two

It's got the power of a 750/ti but only 30w so it might be pretty decent.
