Benchmark Tools

brandonmo

Long time viewer of LTT and reader of the forums, first time poster. I've found the community extremely useful and always enjoy Linus' vids (though, honestly, let's see even more Slick, eh?).

I've been searching the forums but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. It's quite simple really: Has anyone put together a (somewhat) comprehensive list of benchmark utilities, including where to download them?

I've found other such resources but they all seem to be rather outdated. I figured if ANY group of geeks could come up with a current and fairly comprehensive listing, it'd be found at LTT. Can someone steer me in the right direction?

I use Prime95 but according to Linus:

Chalk seems to be a good benchmarking tool.

The intel burn test is supposed to be a good stress test, and I use OpenHardwareMonitor for temp monitoring because of the wide range of things it can monitor

They are pretty different, so no, there is no combo available.

3Dmark06 & 11 are still good. Besides them I use FurMark, Novabench, Cinebench, the new thing Catzilla, SuperPI mod, XS bench (comes with realtemp). I can add more when I check my charts. Most programs can be found with google. Since older software rarely have their own sites up, it's better option than listing sites. Guru3D is propably best dl mirror.

Thanks everyone! I knew I could come here and get some help, but never expected such a great response. Thanks so much! It looks like I have some work to do downloading and then finding out what all of my hardware can really do. Thanks again! I'll keep an eye on this thread to see if any new suggestions are added.
