nvidia Shield Tablet a Flop ?

I/O

As a tablet I think it is has nice specs and good value but tell me why a PC gamer would want to game on an 8" screen and essentially turn the PC into a console level experience. Seems gimped IMHO.

You mean like they did with the original Shield? People (especially Linus) seemed to like that a lot..

I am personally waiting for a set top box device (Like Roku) that has a Ethernet port and will allow me to stream my PC games to a TV on the other side of the house... that is all. Not sold on a shield tablet just yet, but it's a step in the right direction.

I'm not very fond of the shield tablet to be honest. I do still love the original shield though.

I was hoping it would have a similar form factor to the original shield so its a bit of a let down personally. My goal now is to modify the ADT-1 to work with SHIELD streaming.

The original shield was some hand held piece of crap. This is a tablet.

The wonderful thing is you can build a steam box for cheap. Just get a nice little micro box and enjoy .

Piece of crap? @LinusTech uses his a lot. I would prefer a handheld device with controls. I already have a tablet.

The fact that its also a tablet, makes it worth the buy in my opinion.

Yup exactly. #1 it's a fully functional tablet with great spec for a decent price and secondly it is supported by nvidia for use as a secondary gaming device which adds value to the tablet.

I feel it was too expensive for what it was - at the same time it couldn't of really costed less.

You lose the controls though, even if you get the controller, are you really going to prop it against something or put it on a stand and stare at an 8in screen from a distance? Its just awkward. The only thing that would help it is if it had HDMI out or something.

It would be nice, but I am looking for something to act as a client and be the size of a Roku to fit behind a wall hung TV.

Heck no I would not. I agree with you. I would only you this thing as a tablet. I would get bored of gaming on an 8" screen and playing with a gamepad real quick. I will wager that most others will get board of this thing as well.

That was the beauty of the original one though. You can easily game anywhere, it is meant to compliment your system not act as a replacement. It lets you have more access so you can game while you poop.
