[Finished] The Renewal - 1080mm rad, 6700k, Z170 Asrock OC Formula, 980 Ti Matrix

Lays

It's 2400 C9 XMP G.Skill trident x kit, but scales all the way up to 2800 C9 if you have a good IMC + push a bunch of voltage through it.

A guy on here that also does benching on HWBOT was selling it, provided me with full screenshots of all the profiles he runs on it as well as what settings to use etc.

Sandy Bridge-E dosen't have a godd IMC, so I highly doubt I will be able to get that on my 3930K. Right now I'm running 2400 CL11

Here's what the best stick runs at with 2.08v:

2nd best stick at ~2.06v

Did some digging and as long as you have Samsung IC's on your DDR3 it can run anywhere from 2.1-2.2 on air provided you have a very good board without causing any damage to it.

Read what I said below the pictures, people on hwbot run 2.1-2.2 all the time without any issues. It's fine as long as you have a good board and you're not running that voltage 24/7. The guy selling me it has used it for a load of benchmarking at 2.08v and it's been fine every single time, he has loads of overclocking experience on X99,Z97 with dry ice and other methods and assured me with a good board it's perfectly fine.

They all look the same

Specs: 4790k | Asus Z-97 Pro Wifi | MX100 512GB SSD | NZXT H440 Plastidipped Black | Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler | MSI 290x Lightning | EVGA 850 G2 | 3x Noctua Industrial NF-F12's

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it

@Lays Where are the pics of the 4770K?

The guy I bought it from on HWS has basically been useless, it's not arriving til tomorrow.

He paid for a shipping label Tuesday and gave it to his roomate to ship it since his roomate worked right across the street from USPS, guy hadn't shipped it on Friday still, so I pm'd him and asked WTF was going on, so he shipped it that day.

It'll be here like Monday @ 1:30 pm or so. (pst)

I will take good pictures of the ram next to the CPU when it's here though.

Check this out, dem timings at 2470 mhz, I was only at about 1.675v as well, apparently I can do 2666 c9 with my kit at around 1.9v, I will test that when 4770k shows up.

I may re-do this same bench tonight coz I'm 100 ms from getting #2 4690 on hwbot, but atm im to lazy :P

He got the cpu for like $50 less than the 4690k was at the time and I think the board was also like $40 off, saved quite a bit if I remember right.

I think he saved some money on his 840 evo that he got as well but can't remember, been quite a long time now.  He was in love with the color of the board and wanted to save as much $ as possible, and at the time I really didn't feel like teaching him how to OC or helping him with it, so I was just like "yeah whatever just buy it" lol

I really don't like using the 4690 at all, theres actually quite a bit of times I've seen 100% cpu usage while playing certain games with twitch.tv on my second monitor.

I think if I closed my TS3 server + twitch it'd be OK, but this is how I always use my PC and I don't want to change my habits :D

Not since 1155 really. Minimal gains at best

Specs: 4790k | Asus Z-97 Pro Wifi | MX100 512GB SSD | NZXT H440 Plastidipped Black | Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler | MSI 290x Lightning | EVGA 850 G2 | 3x Noctua Industrial NF-F12's

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it

Nice build, i plan on doing a black/white themed buuld around an i7 4790k, msi sli krait mobo, and gtx 970. Just outta curiosity, what were the temps like with the 290x maxed out or at least under some gaming load? Because my tri-x 280x ran really cool and quiet yet i hear the 290x is a power and heat monster but i wanna know for a fact lol.

The reference one was 78-88 most of the time, lightning was usually 72-78
