Putting the PSU like this prevents killing it because it can't breathe air from the bottom of the case. Orienting it like this means it'll intake from the inside of the case, and exhaust it out the back. Works good and you can put your computer anywhere without suffocating your PSU, which is nice.

To everyone asking about the fan on the psu, it does not turn on.

Evga has some power supplies (mine being one of these) that have a switch on the back that makes them passive cooled until the PSU hits 45c,then the fan turns on at like 500 rpm.

The only time I've ever see it turn on is when I was benchmarking my two 780s at 1.35volts and my 3930k at 1.6volts for 30 mins straight, I was pulling like 900w through it for the whole 30mins before it finally turned on the fan.

Whether I mount it up or down, if the fan doesn't spin it doesn't really make a difference since it won't ever spin.

If anything mounting it like this is better, as hot air from inside the unit can rise out the fan grills.

Houston, we have a problem.

 

Icemodz no longer carries shakmods sleeving, which is what he used on mine.

The black & gray is the same, but his new yellow sleeving is brighter than the shakmods yellow he said.

 

 

What I'm going to have to do, is order the 6 & 8 pin I need and then take the sleeved yellow wires out of my EXTRA 8 pin I don't need anymore, and use those sleeved yellow wires in the new cables.

 

(I have a pin removal tool, so it shouldn't be too difficult.)

Yeah, I was planning on an ikea desk for sure the custom "build your own" stuff. There's a store like 40minutes away!

I never got a chance to finish painting, because my desk is attached to the wall, I was going to wait until I got the ikea desk and then rip my setup apart and finish painting.

 

But ~90% of the room is painted, my setup is a little different now, with an o2+odac and a pair of LCD-2's, and I only have one monitor now, my PB278Q.  I will take more pictures of my setup once I get my desk hopefully.

It sucks, my second card doesn't OC for crap on the stock cooler, it has 71% asic quality and my first one has 79%, not sure if that matters at all, but my first card can do 1600 mhz with a tiny bit of artifacting in valley and like 1580 without artifacts, second card won't go above like 1520 without crashing right away, and it also gives itself like 50mv more than the top card.

 

Maybe the one with low asic quality will scale with more voltage when I get waterblocks, IDK.

one of mine only does about that 1520 and the good one does about 1550mhz so i see what your saying, but at least one of yours is good.

Lol you think you lost the silicon lottery? My G1 instantly crashes at 1500. I have it at 1430.

 

Edit: It still runs everything fine, but it's annoying to see everyone easily hitting 1500.
