8.8/10

SSHD is great for those who needs the capacity of a HDD but with the speed of a SSD. I don't see the point for your future build to have a SSHD. Also they don't just work right away, it need to learn your system before the SSD part kicks in. IMO can save up and grab a GTX 970.

Overall a solid future build.

Why save for a 970 when i have the 980 listed?

Also, why dont you see the point  of an sshd in a future build?

Seagate Barracuda 1 TB HDD

MX100 256 GB SSD

Zalman Z11 case

FX 8320 at stock clocks ( I need stability over performance)

AOC i2369Vm monitor ( 2nd and third yet to come)

some 1280/1024 LCD monitor

This is for programming and PCB designing, hence I need more monitor ( and a GPU with loads of ports) than performance

Good for programming and designing but can OC the CPU for some more power, I'd say 8/10

8.5 out 10. Great build, nicely balanced. Would have got a much better score if it wasn't for that Corsair CX PSU

Why save for a 970 when i have the 980 listed?

Also, why dont you see the point  of an sshd in a future build?

Getting a GTX 970 saves about $200 and it performs just as good as the GTX980. This $200 save you can do the following:

1. Get youself a better CPU, with ones that has 40PCIe lanes instead of just 28PCIe lanes

2. A much larger SSD, say 512GB

3. Another type of motherboard like the Asus Rampage V Extreme. The MSI board cost around $300, Asus is $500 or maybe the Asus X99-E WS that gives you a extra 48PCIe lanes.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007627%2050001315%20600533617&IsNodeId=1&name=ASUS

4. Save up on that $200, wait until you get another $100 or so, and grab yourself a 2nd GTX 970 and run them in 2-way SLI

You already have a SSD, SSHD is for those that wants the speed of a SSD with the capacity of a HDD as their main drive. For you that SSD portion the drive might be useless as what you're using the SSHD for is storage.

The SSD part is for cache, depending on how constantly you access this drive, using it just for storage where the files are access occassionally, then the SSD part may never kick in.

@GarnetDevil

Nice and simple build. Can also play games just as well as the other builds here with more expensive parts and yet probably cost less than $1000.

For your build 8/10 I would only change the motherboard but that is just me.

Mobo is completely fine. ASRock has great motherboards, and my build is orientated around the Vapor-X Cyan colour, which is in the motherboard, RAM, etc. (Y)

As I kind of said, my point of view, but  didn't consider colour scheme so 8.5/10 because that is a solid build.
