Hello @floydfan33!

I have to say, that´s a nice balanced rig you got there :). The case looks really good, aswell as the graphicscards, but then there´s the Motherboard-Ram-Combo :D (MRC: I´m sure this will be in the dictionary of computertech soon B) <_<.....nope) Looks a bit awkward, but all that counts is the performance you get out of it (Right? ), so that doesn´t really matter. Also the case has no windowed sidepanel, so that should be fine. As you and the others will see, I may have a powerful computer but (at the moment) no appropriate monitor(s) to show off its potential.. (In this way I´m jealous of you) I had to get the second graphicscard instead of the ASUS 4K-monitor... and now my powersupply isn´t strong enough.... Thats some great planning! (absolutely no sarcasm)

But now I´ll have to show off my rig:

Case: Aerocool XPredator Black Edition Full Tower

Motherboard: Asus Rampage IV Black Edition

RAM: Kingston HyperX Beast 1866mhz (Yes, I could have put in some 2400mhz sticks but there will be some changes over the months...not now.. :D )

CPU: i7-4930k

(Thermal compound: Arctic Cooling MX-2)

CPU cooler: Be quiet Dark Rock Pro 3 with third 120mm fan (No (Aio-)watercooling....HA!)

Graphicscard: (2x but at the moment just one in use) R9 290X Tri-X Vapor-X OC from Sapphire with 8GB of VRAM

Soundcard: Creative Soundblaster ZxR

Storage: Samsung 840 Evo 500GB+Seagate 2000GB SSHD

5,25"-bays: RoG Front Base+Asus DVD drive+OC panel that comes with the motherboard

Powersupply: Be quiet Dark Power Pro 10 850W

Casefans: 2x Bitfenix Spectre Pro 230mm+ 6x Be quiet Silent Wings 2 140mm (all positions are occupied)

Monitor: 1x 24" Medion 1080p..........................what a shame..........

Speakers: Speedlink Impact

Mouse: Roccat Kone XTD

Mousepad: Roccat Hiro

Keyboard: Roccat Ryos MK Pro

Headset: Roccat Kave XTD 5.1

...and a Roccat Apuri for a clean looking desk

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

It may not be the right topic but:

I also have an IPod touch 4th-gen that I won at the "Weihnachtsmarkt" of my town last year, my cellphone is a Samsung 30$ no name red/black thing with folding mechanism... (I have never needed it), a 42" Samsung LCD-TV which is wallmounted, an HP printer (Officejet 4622???), a PS3 Slim 320GB, a PS Vita, a Nintendo 64 (for the nostalgic feeling it is connected to a 13" CRT TV), a Gameboy Advance SP and my old Acer Aspire 7738G.

Thats all there is to say about my setup. If you want to see more details on my setup and the problem PSU+GPU, take a look at my profile, because I was too lazy as to write everything down in detail again... ^_^

Take care and goodbye! ;)

Etienne

PS: Sorry, I forgot to give you the points: I would say that this rig gets a 9.5 out of 10! :)

Nothing special goin' on here.....

At first I want to thank you @Axon1988! :)  I´m glad you like my build! (Your´s isn´t "bad" either! Really nice+Noctua fans  = SUPER DOPE NICE......no, it´s actually more than just some fans that make your build a very good one!) (take a look at my topic "Can´t fit videocard into PCI-E Slot" and search for my last post to find out why the letters are underligned......Please, don´t take this as an advertisment for me....never wanted to be famous ;) ....I just think its funny.....a little bit)

And now: Hello there! ^_^(Just to keep being a nice guy)  To answer your (perhaps rhetorical) question: At the beginning I also thought of putting some Nvidia graphicscards in my rig, but then I saw a youtube video made by a very famous german computer magazine (PC Games Hardware) where they tested the performance you get in Watch Dogs at 4K with 4x & 8x Multisampling(MSAA). The cards were a "normal" Sapphire R9-290X with 4GB of memory, a GTX Titan (Black; I can´t remember...) and a custom model of the 290X from Sapphire with 8GB of RAM, which was announced at Cebit 2014 but then was cancelled (due to the R9 295X2 maybe???....... ). Luckily, Sapphire was allowed to sell the 250 cards they had already made and when I saw them on a german website for about 900$ each, I had to get two of them... I really want to get three 2560x1440 monitors like Linus did in the Ultimate Sorround Build Guide AND be able to get all the settings to high while still maintaining playable framerates. (And I like the look of Sapphires cooler. But the Nvidia reference one is so cool, too.)

And that´s the story behind my choice of graphicscards... I´ll still get a couple of 980´s soon, but not right now -_- But I think that AMD and Nvidia are both great companies anyway, so...no fanboy :D =  no need to decide which one to get; just get them all!!! If you have the money by the way. Life is not as easy as you wish it would be...thats some philosophical Bull**** <_<

But anyways...I´ll have to leave now

Until next time (hopefully):

Goodbye!

Etienne

PS: If you really want to see it (even if you do not understand the german language): Link to the video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okOKH_0E5iU (He tells you that 8GB are better than 6 and 4GB.....blablabla=>not that important. With the 8GB card, MSI Afterburner shows the memory used above 4GB, with the Titan it shows all the memory in use (8GB> used:6GB  MSIA: shows just 2GB/ 6GB> used: 6GB MSIA: shows all the 6GB...a bit hard to explain))

Nothing special goin' on here.....

I'd rate your current build 6/10. Your future build a 9/10. I see you are a fan of that crossfire.

I just installed a few upgrades into my pc this week so here is the full setup this time. Btw its my first "rig".

Cpu: Intel Core i5 4690k Oc'd to 4.4 ghz at 1.23v (I tried to go higher but it's not stable without 1.3+ volts)

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-Z97 HD3 (I kind of regret going with a budget mobo)

Cpu cooler: Swiftech H220-X (new upgrade, it dropped my cpu temps by 10 degrees, it looks nice and its quieter than the 212 evo)

Ram: Corsair Vengeance 2x4gb 1600 mhz DDR3 (Its too tall)

Gpu: Nvidia GTX Titan

Storage: MX100 256gb Hitachi 1tb 5400rpm 2.5" HDD (The hdd came from my Ps4 originally)

Psu: EVGA G2 850w

Case: NZXT H440 (New upgrade: It's quiet and pretty)

Monitor: Benq GL2460HM 24" (Next upgrade is replacing this. It does the job alright I guess.)

Keyboard: Corsair K70 with Cherry Mx Browns (Non RGB. Its great but still a little loud even without the blue clicking)

Mouse: CM Storm Xornet (It's on the budget side but it works fine. I want a slightly bigger mouse with a slightly higher dpi rating)

SSHD is great for those who needs the capacity of a HDD but with the speed of a SSD. I don't see the point for your future build to have a SSHD. Also they don't just work right away, it need to learn your system before the SSD part kicks in. IMO can save up and grab a GTX 970.

Overall a solid future build.
