@IBIubbleTea  9/10, Honestly nice composition, I think the issue is not the glass itself but rather the focal length. Now say you were using a 70-200mm f/2 towards the end of it's length and you were further away from your subject, the background would be pulled in towards the subject. However it would seem that there is some distance between the foreground (subject) and the background) so it would seem that your shallow depth of field and possible bokeh isn't as crisp or clean as you'd like it. I mean it's not to say that your copy might have a slight difference not making it as good as another copy. (Essentially with lenses there's a sort of glass lottery as is there is a silicon lottery with CPUs.)

10/10 Me likey.

This one is not nearly as good as a lot of the other pics, but I think it's good. Took it for a review for my Samsung Galaxy Avant. Camera was the one on the Galaxy SIII. No HDR or any touchups. Terribly sorry about the background stuff and the dirt on the bottom of the phone.

I really like the lighting, makes for nice close-ups and the setting and tone fits the phone. Only downside is, you're mainly focused on a blank, reflective screen and you don't see much detail. I'd say another shot with the screen on, maybe on a more vivid tone would help bring out the phone ;)

I took my wide shot that I shot in Chicago and polar coords'd it, creating the "Planet" effect. Check the spoiler to see the original.

This one is MUCH better, IMO. But, first, @kingzogan, I do like the effect, but the colors are a bit bland IMO. And that smudge in the top where the image was probably stitched together is distracting AF. Still cool, so solid 7.75/10. :D

7.5/10 Pretty nice, I don't really know what else to say?

Same day of shooting (16, May 2015) Same Camera, similar settings.

8/10, the focus is really nice, and I love the bluured light through the back of the tree

This one is also from my Z3, although a more recent photo taken last weekend in my garden. I do have some better photos I think, but I quite liked the different colours in this one.

Generally it depends on how detailed quality control is.

I only purchased the D7100 a month ago and just starting photography.  Is it me or does it seem to be out of focus or not as sharp..? I don't know because most of my pictures seem to look like that when opened up on my computer. But when on camera they seem sharp. Maybe I have the wrong af settings..? camera defective? my 50mm prime be broke?

I'm sure your lens is fine. Remember that when you shoot wide open at 1.8 you have a very narrow depth of field so always focus on the eyes, as long as they are sharp all is good.  If you try f5 to f8 there will be a lot more of the shot in focus but you will need to adjust the iso and the shutter speed to compensate for the lower amount of light entering the camera.

Just wondering but why is his photos sharp? Is it because it focused on the eye or something? Sorry for the noobie question?

My guess is the kind of glass he used, there could be a few different variables in which could alter his outcome.

For portrait Photography you should be focusing on the closest eye of your subject. You also should not move the camera after you focus. Move the focus point.

Quality lens does help.

I was planning on getting a Xeon, Nepton 240M, and then a Rebel T5, but now that I have no source of income... Money got even tighter than before. Now I don't know if I want to get a Xeon (that I will use more overall) or the camera (I can use that almost as much).
