This image isn't taken by me, it's taken by the Voyager 1 Spacecraft on Valentines Day in 1990 from about 6 billion kilometers (3.7 billion miles) from Earth.  It's actually part of a bigger picture that was taken of the entire system, and is the last picture taken by Voyager 1 (the sun burned the camera lenses in the process. The full image is too large to post here, but I will post a link to the image.  But here you go guys, your home, from 6 billion kilometers away:

tumblr_m0r9naqwz31qfyvyto1_500.jpg

Here is a link to the full sized image:  http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d2/Solar_System_Portrait_-_View_of_the_Sun%2C_Earth_and_Venus.jpg

I love this picture because it reminds me how ridiculous we can be sometimes when we get all bent out of shape over something, or when we look at ourselves as important, or if we are simply sad over a loved one's passing.  That .2 pixel dot is where all of humanity has taken place.  The best, the worse, the absolute of what every human in history has ever done, all of it took place on .2 pixels.

Kind of puts things in perspective huh?

Its not exactly the point of this thread. The point is to show off your own images and to receive feedback on them to help improve.

I didn't tell you to remove your post. I asked you to read the OP and to rate the photo above, you could keep your post, I just wanted you to rate the person above's photo.

5/10 It is quite blurred or the focus is not set right on the flower. You could have taken more time to get your shot set up. If you got shaky hands try using a tripod or increase shutter speed and always remember to get the shot in focus xD

Here is mine. Took a picture of a flower at church.

It's an ok photo, but remember not to cut parts of things off (like the side of the mouse), and watch out for those intruding objects (bottom left hand corner).

5/10.

The multicolored fur is the only thing this picture has going for it; it could be much improved if the cat's face was in the view and in focus, that way the photo would contain something. As it is, half the fur doesn't appear to be in focus, and the way the picture is taken makes it hard to see what it's even of. It would be nearly impossible to tell what the animal was without the ear, and the stray strands of shed fur also detract from the color of the photo, because they mix the light with the contrast of the brown fur.

7/10 I like the contrast between the flowers & the brick and mortar, but find the white table distracting.

Since we seem to be on a roll with flowers, I guess I'll post (an older) one myself. :)

Hmm, you've got a mighty interesting photo there.

I want to rate it high, because I know you aren't going to get any pictures better than that in a scenario like that; the inside of a flower just isn't big enough to get everything in focus satisfactorily, and for that reason I think it should get an "as good as it can be" rating.

On the other hand, the content is mostly down to personal preference--while I think it's pretty neat, others probably find it disorienting or just plain weird.

I'm going to give you a nice ambiguous 7/10 and say I wish that there was an unobstructed view of the yellow inner part, because that would improve the picture a great deal.

8/10, the petal in the middle kind of spoils the photo.

That night the street lights were not working, so I had to take the opportunity:

Whoa awesome picture! So clear. Did you use a tripod to keep the camera steady and a remote shutter?

I also like taking night pictures but the tripod I have is wobbly.

Here is another flower picture I took.

I think this is a great picture, 9/10.

The only improvements I could think of would be getting more contrast in the background; while there's a good bit there I don't like the brick wall, and you might improve the picture by moving the flower a tiny tiny bit off-center and getting something else to the side of it.

Yes, a cheap Hama tripod, no remote though.

Edit: Also, the most important thing about night shots is post production in Photoshop or other photo manipulation software that can work with RAW format. The picture I posted last actually has three different layers that have different exposures, different color tones and different saturations.

Haha, you missed mine and I was like "Petal? What the jiminy cricket is he talking about?"
