Interesting find for ivy bridge/z77 memory selection

After searching a long time for the perfect memory for my new build I found this article:

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/memory/display/ivy-bridge-ddr3_3.html

Basically says that a decent 2133mhz is the best kit for ivy bridge/z77 anymore and it's worthless...

Food for thought...

Yeah, it's generally known that 1600 MHz is the best you can really get (specifically for gaming).

It'll be a while before memory bottlenecks the rest of the system at all.

I have mine running at 2400. There's no difference.

According to more charts you see a 5fps gain with crysis warhead, and a 16fps gain for farcry 2....

1600 vs. 2133 mhz

Some games will see a greater gain with faster ram, especially the CPU dependent ones.

I grabbed some dominator platinum, 16gb cas9 @2133mhz is epic!!!!! The problems start happening once you go above 2133mhz... Kits start jumping to 1.65 volt ram... Ivy bridge can "take damage" blah blah blah

cas matters less for gaming. Also i heard ddr4 is coming soon! And if so i dont think memory will ever cause a bottle neck

Soon would be around 2015 for consumers. But you're right, memory isn't a bottleneck.

2133MHz is the sweet spot for Ivy Bridge, much like 1866MHz is the sweet spot for Sandy Bridge,
