LTT Forums CPU Overclocking Database!

I've got 1 question, what if your overclocking legacy CPUs which don't give the core voltage? Because I've got some that only display the clock speed, with pictures of the jumper positions needed as evidence for the frequency.

You can enter them, they'll just receive a red ranking due to us not knowing the voltage :P

I actually just checked one of the bios sub-menu, its locked at 1.63V, no matter which CPU is used. I'll have to confirm when I have an OS running on it, but I might not have much headroom to OC past 1GHz, if any (and if the motherboard even supports more than 1GHz).

Gonna be stress testing for atleast 6 hours here lol  even though my cpu has been running at this speed for weeks, gonna run it validate it then post it!

Just wanted to apologize for the delay in validation! And just wanted to give a very big thank you to everyone who has submitted, and continues to submit entries into this database! This is definitely the most successful project I have ever launched, and I'm happy I've been able to helpful to so many :)

Here's to the next big CPU architecture launch!

Cheers :)

Someone needs to learn how to lie.

No way do you cool 1.560V with a CM Sideon.

Those XTU & Cinebench scores are too low for the clocks you are claiming.

Increasing the Clocks for a ScreenShot doesn't count as stable.

Try again Kid.

this submission should get the red badge of instability

there is no stress test validation provided.

the oc is obviously unstable. look at the low scores. definite indication of thermal throttling under load.

also if you examine the xtu graph its quit clear the cpu was at 100c prior to idling at a toasty 46c. so thermal throttling is obvious.

unstable oc = no pink badge

@rtsurfer I guess I am a 28 year old kid.

Really not one for insults either.

No claims and yes I do realize that I am throttling at temp and I deff do not idle at 46C either. More in the middle 30s. I noticed too that my RAM clock also had an effect on these scores too. I have done my research and realize that I need to get an even better cooling solution for what I am going for. I can screen shot that for you too if you'd like. And define stable? Stable without crash or stable without throttling? Seems that definition is rather vague and should be further clarified. At the end of the day it works for me and happy to reach almost 5ghz on a 4790k. (I have more than one submission here). I also have hwbot submissions I can add for further proof if need be.

your computer was idling in the 40's at 3%cpu usage.  I can read the xtu graph pretty well

your OC is really bad \ unstable

You would be better off running at stock frequencies with intel turbo boost technology disabled. You computer would run faster and cooler.

are you Djthrottleboi?

I screenshot this right after the bench. And of course the OC would be bad. Esp at that voltage. I could run stock, but why would I if I am stable in the 4.6-4.8 GHz range. Also what is a good CB score on average, and XTU scores?

And who is Djthrottleboi? O.o

your entitled to whatever OC you want.

I just wanted to point out to meltymoon you did not provide any stress test validation so you get a entry that gets the red stamp of instability.

at 4.95ghz you should be over 1000 cinebench points and over 1200xtu points (memory settings impact xtu a great deal)

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtYAz9JoDICbdFM3dXBaNjZPMVgzWE1jYUlZekZYc3c#gid=0

look for my entries, check column Q for cinebench points.

So my inference was correct! Awesome. I noticed playing with the clock speeds of the memory effected scores. That compiled with the throttling. So on with another cooling solution then. I will look at your scores and use them as a guide. I had an idea, just needed them solidified. 5 or 6 years out of the OC game things have changed lol.

for 24\7 overclocks

dont mess with bclk

keep it below 85c

Only mess with bclk if your benchmarking\ extreme tweaking for short bursts, mostly to increase memory speeds. post those results on hwbot. look me up while your at it.

http://hwbot.org/user/prokon/

give meltymoon a valid Screenshot, with a stress test running for 6 or more hours so we have less junk entries in the database.

What are your load temps.?

Most of the people understand that you lower your clocks/voltages if you are throttling, I guess you don't know that.

My load temps were at 100 during bench and yes I do know lower your voltage and clocks. But I am guessing you think I am some kid, as you stated earlier, that was just going for the moon. I am trying things and experimenting. I do have decent score with that clock, the one posted was not the best one I have made so far. Also you should watch how you talk to folks, I certainly didn't like you calling me a kid, and I found your statement rather condescending in tone.

On a side note, I have 2 of the same board and noticed that one OC'd better than the other I am beginning to wonder if this too is a factor with overclocking. I understand the diff VRMs vary by model ect., but it was something I also noticed.

I was condescending because I thought you were lying & that wasn't stable.

And most overclockers don't call an OC stable if its throttling.

And just an FYI, you can ask anyone on any forum, they'll tell you that you should back off your freq & voltages if your load temps are 100C.
