Looks like its a great cpu for dolphin since it only needs two cores.

I guess I don't know what I'm doing or I didn't manage as well in the silicon lottery  :mellow:  4.5Ghz @ 1.3 Vcore and Vrin @ 2.1.

I have almost no overclocking experience so I wouldn't be surprised if I was doing something completely silly.

 

Oh and I'm using a Gigabyte Z97X- gaming 3 Mobo with latest BIOS and a CM 212 evo cooler. Also a 2 X 4Gb 1600Mhz RAM kit from crucial. I'm using the 1600Mhz XMP profile for the RAM.

that sounds like a decent overclock. my chip happens to be a good one. most haswell chips only did 4.4ghz when heat wasn't an issue.  :) i wouldn't go much high than that voltage for normal use. i use loads of voltage, because i'm not running it as a gaming rig :P.

Yeah I'm running it at 4.3Ghz @ 1.2Vcore to keep the temps and noise down. It's plenty of Power paired with a 7850  :lol:

Pretty sweet setup for emulators and cheap!

i got a second one today just to see the difference.

on this one the voltage scaling is as follows:

 

stock      1.086v

4.4ghz    1.200v

4.5ghz    1.235v

4.6ghz    1.300v

4.7ghz    1.400v (bench stable only)

 

didn't bother going any higher as its not as good as my other one.  :)

i buy petrol instead of drinking as well, that is an expensive habit. i'll soon be buying diesel though, which costs a big more.

Great review and a pretty good sample you have actually!

 

I fit my Silverarrow horizontally actually so I can use the top PCI slot on my system, try to do that, it does not affect the temperatures at all.

thanks. my cpu is actually one of the best on air or water or even phase cooling 

 

true i could do that. i'm not keeping that cooler on there when i use it as a main rig so it shouldn't matter to much. :)
