4k monitor recommendations

Monty007

Hi all,

I'm currently using 3 x 24" (5760 x 1200) montiors in Nvidia surround.  I'm getting really tired of the lack of support for current games.  I'm looking to sell what I have and upgrade to 1 good monitor.

I'm looking into 4k monitors and the Dell one comes recommended buy a few.  Prices are still high, but within the next few months, I'm hoping to make this change.

I would like to get some advice on other monitors that I should consider.  I'm hoping to keep it under $1000 for the cost of the new monitor.  I want at least 60hz

I'm running 2 x gtx 780's in SLI which have been giving me great FPS in surround (75-110) in BF4.  I know that I won't get that high FPS with this proposed upgrade.

I'm also going to upgrade to the 5930K and a new Mobo and eventually get a 3rd 780 for giggles and add it to the SLI mix.

Thanks for the feedback!

My build:  Leviathan  Case: 900D  CPU: i7 3770K (watercooled)  Mobo: Z77X-UD5H GPU: EVGA GTX 780 Hydro Copper GPU: MSI GTX 780 watercooled PSU: EVGA 1300W G2  RAM: 32 GB Corsair Vengance  HDDs: 1 x 120 GB Intel 330 SSD (OS X); 1 x 256 GB Samsung 840 pro (Windows 8); 2 x 2TB Seagate Barracuda (RAID 0 Data OS X); 1 x 3TB Seagate Barracuda (OS X backups)  Monitors: 1 x 24" Apple LED Cinema (center); 2 x 23" Apple LED Cinema (surround)  Watercooling: 3 rads, CPU, GPU, GPU, MCP655 pump, Lots of fittings, EK reservoir, EK UV Blue coolant.  Updated build: Leviathan 2.0

That monitor is 3440x1440 which does not equal 4K. In fact, 3440x1440 is about 5 million pixels whereas 4K is about 8.3 million pixels.

i was wrong i meant it has almost the same horizontal pixel 3440 for the lg and 3840 for the others, since he was using a surround configuration i tought he would still maintain the wide aspect ratio without buying another gpu

Thank you for the suggestion so far. I like the look of the LG but as mentioned earlier, it isn't technically a 4k monitor.

I know the 5930k is not an official thing yet but basically I'm waiting to upgrade to the successor of the 4930k...whatever that ends up being.

Asus PB287Q or Samsung U28D590D will fit your need, both of them cost about 620 ~ 650$

The Asus PB287Q seems okay for now, personally i would wait a yeah or so.

For the new GPU line to come out, then 4k monitors will be cheaper and better.

If i were u, i would wait. Infact i am waiting myself.

Been looking for a 4k monitor for the past year or so since they were 1st put in the spot light.

IMO the current ones out just are not there yet, mainly in size (for me atleast). But if ur ok with the size then the Asus PB287Q seems to be the most highly recommended.
