Is this a good £500 video editing and gaming pc? http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/JmVhmG

Matt Wakey

So I've been trying to find a good pc for video editing and some minor gaming like minecraft, but I only have a low budget of £500. I'm not an expert when it comes down to picking parts so I was wondering if I could have some help and if you could let me know what I should change about this build.

I want the pc to be able to use programmes such as adobe after effects, Sony Vegas and Photoshop, but still do some gaming like minecraft. I have £500 to spend and may go over a little to spend on the monitor, keyboard and mouse. Please leave your suggestions.

For gaming and video editing? It hasn't even the graphics card... For 500 bucks you can't expect that much, but that is kinda good for video editing (kinda) and not at all for gaming...

rig: i7 4770k @4.1Ghz (delidded), Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600Mhz, ROG Maximus VI Hero, Noctua NH-D14, EVGA GTX980SC, Samsung 850 EVO 500GB, Corsair SF600, self-built wooden Case, CoolerMaster QuickFire TK, Logitech G502, Blue Yeti, BenQ GW2760HS

500 pounds = more than 850 USD. Even if it was 500$, that's enough to play at ultra at 1080p on most games.

With money you can't play. With a graphics card you can. And in his config, there wasn't one...

You need a video card, that's going to push your budget. Also you may want to consider a case that has USB 3.0 on it just for convenience sake but its not required. I also would avoid wireless gaming as much as possible, if you can go wired or get an powerline adapter.

CPU: AMD 5950X    MB: Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero    RAM: HyperX Predator 64GB    GPU: Nvidia RTX 3090 Ti FE    SSD: Seagate FireCuda 530 2TB
PSU: EVGA 1200w P2    COOLING: EK AIO Elite 360    CASE: Fractal Design Torrent

Not too sure about AMD, I'm sure someone will speak up about whether or not that is a decent setup. I would suggest getting an SSD if you can squeeze it in your budget. It will make a noticeable difference.

First question did you ever build a PC before?

No: Go to a local pc store that build custom PC's say to them you're budget let them give you a parts list then check online if it's correctly priced if it's worth it ,if you like the config they provide you buy it.

Or if you're confident enough go with next option

Yes:chose you're favourite parts that fit in you're budget order them from the sites you trust and the best pricing and just build it.

Second:just save up money for a better rig

No No No

I don't have too much knowledge on what is required for an editing PC, but with only £500 for one there isn't much needed. The best thing do to with that budget is to make it as balanced as you can. If you are expecting to work with adobe after effects and >1080p resolutions with efficiency, then you will be greatly disappointed.

The one harrynowl posted is as good as it is going to get for you. And he did a good job, so thank him for his efforts! But a couple of the parts in that are not going to give you a great experience, so keep that in mind. It will be sufficient for gaming and 1080p video rendering if your deciding to do a couple of YouTube videos or what not.

But seriously, I would recommend saving up some more money.

You also made another post in here about the same budget editing computer -.-

1) This stuff should go into buid planning, not build logs

2) In your previous thread  <_< @JoaoPRSousa had a wonderful build for you. You do not need to buy the GPU. The i7 will be wonderful for working with editing, but this is where saving up for a little bit longer to get a GPU would help.
