 Let's give a little background info. I am currently in high school and I consider myself to be a fast typer. I can get around 50+ words per minute, without looking at the keyboard. However, I don't type "properly". I pretty much only use my right/left thumb for space, left pinkey for shift/cap lock, right pinkey for enter, occasional use of left middle finger and left ring finger, and mainly right and left index fingers for most of the typing. I almost never use my right ring finger. For general typing I wouldn't be too worried. Though needing to use things like brackets,commas, full stop, and etc. Really makes me worry about my typing capabilities. I often need to look at the keyboard for such symbols. What do you guys recommend? Learning to type with all 10 fingers would definitely be a big hassle especially how well I've adapted to my own strategy.

I type the same as you, since I game so much I rest my left hand like you would while playing a game, wasd shift and space.

but people look at me weird when im not doing data entry at work

my resting stance is left and on WASD and Spacebar
and right hand on mouse, its fucked LOL

Never really thought about that. I type primarily with my 2 index fingers. I use my right index for space and I use my left thumb and right middle fingers for letters that are more convenient to press with them. A test shows that I have a 57 words per minute pace this way

I understand but my overall form is incorrect. My 2 index fingers covers nearly all letters. I also can't type the symbols fluently which is a major problem.

typing the symbols takes lot of practice and the memorization on where they're located.

I know but people typing with all 10 fingers in the right position get to them easily.

Left had -> I use index, middle and ring finger for letters. Pinkie for shift, thumb for space.
Right hand -> Index for all of right side of the keyboard.

I'm right handed but I type WAY better with my left hand. I can use all fingers perfectly without looking on my left hand but I usually only use 2 fingers on my right hand for typing.
