What fans are the closest to zero decibels?

farhanorakzai

I have noctua fans with ultra low noise adapters at minimum rpm, but I can still hear them. Hearing my computer makes me not want to use it. What should I get for absolute silence? Not quiet, dead silent. Thanks

No fans, fanless heatsink or that fancy pumpless water cooling thing. Then get a low end GPU without fans. Then a fanless PSU, or a Corsair one that has that zero RPM stuff.

Done, no noise.

This.

I don't believe there are fans that are under 10dBa that can still function to keep your PC cool.

Ones that don't spin.

You're always going to be your PC a little. A new case or some mods might make it quieter, rather than new fans.

I have an nf-f12 and nf-p12. Also my gpu is gtx 780 superclocked with acx cooling, which is audible when gaming

The problem with that is that most 'fanless' power supplies, heatsinks, etc rely on airflow from other parts to dissipate heat.

If you build a computer that's entirely fanless it'll be a hotbox.

Yeah basically as what everyone has already said:

If you can't hear the fan, then it's not actually cooling your PC in any meaningful way, and therefore you should just take them out and use passive cooling for the case.

Ok, then get a case that supports large 200mm fans, spin them at low RPMs so they still move a little bit of air, then purchase super long cables and keep your PC at the opposite end of the room.

If the specs on your profile are accurate, I'm pretty sure what you're hearing is your hard drive or graphics card and not your Noctua fans.

I had some annoyance with my old NF-F12's, I could audibly hear them after I finished my loop, putting my finger on them to stomp them stopped the noise.  I replaced them with gentle typhoons, didn't lose any performance and they're in-audible at idle + load now.

Also replaced my PSU with an evga 1000 p2, it has a fan-mode that turns the fan off, regardless of load until 45 c.

I think in an air cooled system, as long as the fans are really quiet, you'll probably hear the psu/hdd/gpu over them.

Where can I get gentle typhoon fans? And doesn't Linus use nf-f12's ? How are his builds so quiet?

Quiet over a youtube video is a lot different than quiet in real life.

GT's have been discontinued, although at times you can find them on ebay / frozencpu / in google searches. The Ap-14 model is a good all-around fan since it's 1450 RPM.

No asus strix 780 and lock the temperature to 65° in evga precision x and the fan won't ever spin.

I have never seen that before.

Funny, it mentions it can do 3-way SLI. 15 PCI slots? 2-way SLI I can imagine, some cases have ten PCI-e slots. But three? What?

Colourful are hands down the best AIB for GPUs.

GTs aren't going to be silent either. And for wanting silence, you picked a pretty terrible case to achieve that. Pulling air across that mesh is going to create noise, especially using fans designed for static pressure. Are your Noctua fans in push/pull on your radiator (another source of noise) or used as case fans elsewhere? If they're on the radiator, you've got two different ratings for those fans, which will also produce some noise. You want static pressure fans for radiators and heat sinks, and air flow/low noise optimized fans for your case intake/exhaust. Something like the NF-S12A ULN would be better for a standalone case fan when silence is your concern.
