How much do you care about the sound level of your pc?

9, I don't give a damn as long as it stays cool and doesn't sound like a truck.

Mine is running 24/7 in the living room...would like to achieve a dead silent system. Presently my rig is probably more of a 3 due to too many fans and audiable HDDs. Although the case is one of the best silence optimized in the market it still has room for improvement. Cant wait to receive the R5.

I've killed my 3930k (have 3960x now) by taking the fans off my h60 (have h75 now) because I wanted dead silence, but could hear that fan. It was a noctua nf-f12

I'm around a 3 or 4. As of late, when building PCs for friends, family, or co workers, I usually opt for an AIO watercooler if they can't afford a custom setup (which is entirely understandable).

I always use positive air pressure if possible, optimizing flow, and I always end up installing sound dampening foam on side panels and front 5.25" bays that are unused.

For my own personal rig I practice the same setup. Silence is key, as I do some A/V recording as a hobby.

If you want silence you dont go for AIO... youre supoosed to go for air coolers for silence.

When I'm at my desk, I tend to have a fan blowing at me. So my PC doesn't need to be dead silent, but it must be pretty quiet, especially at idle. During games, it just has to be drowned out by my speakers or headphones.

Totally silent at idle and light loads, a level 5 or so while gaming is alright for me.

I like it silent unfortunately my rig is not when using four Corsair SP120 High Pre fans for my liquidcooler so buying noctua fans is something I'm thinking about!

I would love it if my rig was silent, but i work with servers every day so only hearing one computer isn't that bad compared to more than 5000, that and i usually wear noise cancelling headphones making it near impossible to hear while gaming.

General rule of thumb: If the sound is strong enough to make me pay attention to it while using headphones at full volume, i need to do something about it.

Since I have the PC in the living room, which I share with my son and wife, noise must be at a minimum at all times.

as long as it's not:

Coil wine

Ticking

High pitched

Loud fans dont bother me in the slightest, I wear a headset anyway.

The noise level of my system is subjective to me, when playing games I don't really care much, because my machine is loud under load, well, the GPU is loud, but it really doesn't bother me that much in games, however at idle the machine is quiet and I like it. :)

I'm honestly watching videos, listening music or gaming loudly 90 of the time and use my speakers are volumes high enough to drown out a microwave so that's my selection

My PC lives outside my room with long extension cables until I can afford some Noctua fans and a nice wc loop... I like to leave my PC on at night sometimes and I already have Insomnia, PC noise really doesn't help

I DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT SOUND LEVEL/NOISE FROM MY RIG! I always wear headphones or loud music from my surround system.

My parents, girlfriend, roomate and people trying to sleep at 4AM though...

If only I could have a computer room, away from any bedrooms, then I wouldn't give a damn about the noise, however, as I don't, I have noctuas $_$ :(

I live in a Studio Apartment so silence is essential, I tried the whole wide open Let breathe cases with 200mm fans and after a while they just become incredibly annoying. Switched everything from the case to the fans, now I don't even switch the PC of and most of the times I don't know when its on :)... I even switched from a gaming PC to a Ultrabook because of the noise, maybe it's just me... Next on the agenda is water-cooling the GPU, it get's quite noisy when it's revving...

I voted 2. I can hear it and accept it if it is completely silent in my room and I concentrate on being able to hear it. But any amount of noise beyond that, headphones or no headphones, idle or full load is completely unacceptable after I had a mid to low end system that was super quiet due to producing very little heat.

This means I have to send a lot of graphics cards back due to them being noisy, even if reviews write that they are near silent (R9 290 Gaming and a GTX 780 Lightning both failed to impress) and I couldn't use my PC for a week cause I had no low noise adapters when I got a H440 and found the stock fans too loud. Currently testing undervolting on a 780 reference card to save the fans having to spin too much under load and think I have finally found a high end card that meets my needs.

I have a desk fan right beside me since the heat where I live can be unbearable sometimes. It drowns out the PC's noise quite well.
